I know you all have been discussing actors for the various QT roles.
But here's an entirely new (I think) take: animated. I just spotted this on Facebook:

Tangled Trailer

Flynn reminds me strongly (both physically and behaviorally) of Gen...what do you (far more experienced fans) think?

No no, he has a horse in that trailer, definitely not Gen XD

That looks awesome, I must see this movie now! And I see what you mean about the resemblance!

Oh my goodness, 0:09-0:13 is definitely Gen. The horse, not so much but good find.

I hate this trailer so much. I hate the reconceptualization of this movie so much. I hate Disney's stupid marketing plan to try to make this movie a Shrek for kiddies and con boys into seeing a "movie about a princess," since everyone knows movies can't have girl leads anymore.

By the way, Disney, you made this movie already. It's called Aladdin.

almost all this, except I am a complete sucker for Zachary Levi. But I lol'd when I saw how boy-heavy this trailer was. BTWS THIS MOVIE IS CALLED TANGLED IT TOTALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PRINCESSES. NOPE. NOT AT ALL.

(I don't think it's so much that girl leads are a problem as it is the over-marketing of the "Disney Princess" concept that has led boys to associate Disney movies with girl leads with copious amounts of pink that are meant specifically for girls. In other words, Disney doomed itself in its own eyes with its own marketing scheme. I would say "sucks to be you," but I've seen the 2D art for Tangled and am still weeping for the fact that they did 3D animation instead.)

*headdesk*

Oh I agree. I remember that the older Disney movies weren't marketed as princess movies at all, but just children's movies that happened to be fairytale retellings.

the girl in this trailer didn't come in until past halfway, and then again she had only one line. "Best day... ever!" Like, ever.

When I first saw the trailer? I was almost excited and thought it was Gen. Then there was the horse and I figured I would have heard about it by now if they were making a movie. XD

I wouldn't put it past any movie maker to make Gen a good horseman. Silly people not checking details.

Flynn hit me the same way, and I was going to post this the day the trailer came out, and then I figured I was just crazy for seeing similarities! So thank you, claire_mirkwood. :D

Gen would be so great on screen...

I really want to watch that now. D:
If (when) I make these books into a movie (I don't care what have to do), I will follow them to THE LETTER. >:{

Although this Flynn fellow reminds me more of Sinbad than Gen, I get what you mean :D

I am one of those dastardly, obviously uneducated buffoons who thinks horses are "noble, graceful animals".

Although they are endearingly stupid sometimes...

So I wonder if Disney gave Shannon Hale any credit, since they ripped off her Rapunzel's Revenge, a children's graphic novel (illustrator Nathan Hale) in which a wild west Rapunzel uses her hair to lasso bad guys, among other things. I'm guessing NOT!

But the guy is a little like Gen. Subtract the Disney archness/coyness, though--not the same as Gen's true laziness and wit.

Disney did credit E.D. Baker. I made a note of looking for it when I went to see it because I wondered if they would. I was actually kind of suprised they did. In the end sequence it said "inspired by The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker" (I think was the wording).

Ha. Well, having messed with the Rapunzel story myself, maybe I'd better back off on Disney. But only a little!

Ah, he's cute. A little too cutesy to be Gen though, I think. And I will be seeing this movie for sure as my daughter totally caught me watching the trailer and is bouncing with excitement already.

I dunno, I imagined Gen to be darker - that guy looks more English than Greek. But there definitely is that Gen vibe, if Disney-versionified.

The opening shot, when he's being led through the dungeon with a guard on either side, is so Thief. Definitely a Gen candidate (even though it's animated)! And thank you btw for alerting me to this new movie, which I hadn't known about but am now very excited for!

Finally saw this trailer in the movie theatre! I've been waiting for it to show up. I swear, I almost squeed when I remembered the connection to Gen. Awesome. (BTW the movie was Toy Story 3, which was AMAZING)
