In all seriousness, the Queen's Thief series is the most intelligently written book series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I say this as a heartless cynic when it comes to books, too, mwt, so do not think I often sugarcoat my words.

If making a mistake about dates is enough to qualify for idiocy, I shudder to think what I would be called, as a person who cannot read a non-digital clock, always goes the wrong way when attempting to travel somewhere, and--oh, messing up on times. ;)

I haven't read about the meet-up yet, but frankly, rather than mention all the reasons why I think she's not an idiot, I'll simply say that I can't think of a single reason why she is (or would think she is) one.

Her books make politics awesome and fun, they're filled with genius hinting and foreshadowing and you can find a new one each time you read, and she writes some of the most complex characters I have ever read.

If that's not enough proof she's not an idoit, I don't know what is.

Well, if she's an idiot, she's a brilliant one. In the span of a few days I read The Queen of Attolia for the first time, and then the end of a currently best-selling trilogy, and then Attolia again, this reading punctuated by me shouting aloud as if the author of the other books could hear me, "THAT is how it is done! See? That is how it is done!"

And I agree with the post before this - it takes one to write one, or something close, anyway.

(1) It is a property of authors that those who can manage to make even the most clueless readers feel like GENIUSES every time they figure out one of the oh-so-subtly-laid hints in their books (where in any other series the hints would have been handled much less brilliantly and the reader would have gone on being clueless until the very end) could not POSSIBLY be anything less than geniuses themselves, therefore couldn't POSSIBLY be idiots.

(2) MWT did that to me in ALL FOUR BOOKS.

(3) Therefore, MWT is not an idiot.

The other day I thought I'd lost my credit card in a store changing room, and I called the store and had the employees searching the 20 or so rooms before I found it in a different pocket of my wallet.
