Megan shares her favorite books of the year over at The Book Smugglers- http://thebooksmugglers.com/2010/12/smugglivus-2010-guest-author-megan-whalen-turner.html

I was particularly pleased to see that she liked Kage Baker's The Hotel Under the Sand, a book I found rather lovely myself!

"Do you know how long it takes me to write anything? Okay, yes, you probably do."

*snorts, laughs*

Thanks for posting!

I loved the comment she made about the wine. I could definitely see a sentence similar to that in a future book, although I'm not sure what would bring about a situation where that type of description would come up. It sounds like something Sophos would say though, rather than Gen or even Costis. More shenanigans in a wineshop? Yes, please. :D

She recommended a couple of my favorite books, too! I read The Lost Conspiracy by Frances Hardinge a while ago and talked it up to everyone I knew, and I recently read White Cat by Holly Black and was blown away. It may be my favorite book of 2010, in fact.

Thanks for posting the article! I would have missed it otherwise.

Hotel under the sand sounds like something I need to read. Is it just me, or does the name Emma seem to be more popular lately? That's my first name and its really weird because when a group or class of kids come in to the place I work there is almost always one girl named Emma.

I believe it is the most common girl's name for babies--if not for this year, then for last year.

I love the Book Smugglers' picture of themselves.
