Of dreams and gardens...
Jan. 5th, 2011 03:40 amIt's normally boring when people try and tell you their dreams, but I think Sounisians might appreciate this one.
A few nights ago I dreamt I met Eugenides, who was in the middle of a parade-like retinue. Attolia was with him and they were walking to the King's Garden (which, I know, doesn't actually exist in the books as YET :P ). There was a general impression of colourful clothing.
Moving along, I met Megan Whalen Turner herself. At this point I was surrounded by a bunch of nice people, who I think must have been all of you. You were very lovely and welcoming, although, as I've never been able to meet anyone in person yet :( , perhaps a little vague. We all settled down on some couches in a nearby bookshop and Megan read us the first chapter of the next book. I'm afraid all I remember now is that Eugenides, as one of his first acts as King, had created a beautiful walled garden, and he was trying to prevent people from stealing in and spoiling it. I was really thrilled with the book, although looking back it didn't address many of the plot-points one would expect.
There were also trapeze artists.
I'm not sure about them. Perhaps they were part of the circus around Eugenides?
:)
Best dream ever, yes?
And can I just say you are all wonderful and I wish I could meet you in real life, although I think there would be a LOT of us if that ever happened.

This is the first QT/Sounisian dream I've had, so I was excited. If I start dreaming about a book, it's a sure sign I'm completely obsessed.... But this is the first time an author and other readers have been *in* the book with me. Usually reading is so solitary. I guess Sounis has had a big impact!
