Conspiracy of Kings has also been nominated for an LA Times Book Prize :-) Super congratulations, Megan!!

(And this is a terrific group of nominees overall, but I will be seriously peeved if Mockingjay wins...)

I second that heartily.

Gah, I don't even like seeing CofK on a list with Mockingjay!

Plus, I'd be really shocked if it won because it isn't really as hard-core genre as the other nominees, which, from what I've heard, are largely excellent.

I was thinking that same thing. Conspiracy is a far more subtle fantasy than the others. The only other two I've read are Mockingjay and Ship Breaker. I enjoyed Ship Breaker but not nearly as much as Conspiracy.

Sweet! CofK can totally take down Ring of Solomon!

I liked Ring of Solomon, but I agree!

Oh, I liked it, too, and was sticking up for it around here somewhere(as not as disappointing compared to the first three as some others thought) but CofK beats it hands down.

Wow, tough competition (the only other ones I've read on the list were White Cat and Behemoth and I liked ACoK much better than both), best of luck to everyone!

Sigh. I just wish the deck weren't stacked in favor of Mockingjay, Behemoth and I Shall Wear Midnight. CoK is really the best of them all, but sales figures and sentimentality will probably win out here.

go cok!
i'm split, though, between cok and behemoth.

and mockingjay can just go away. (i've never really liked the hunger games trilogy for some reason; i liked her underworld series so much more.)

So the Gregor books are good? I was going to look for them after I read The Hunger Games, but never did, and then when I finished Mockingjay, well, it suddenly seemed like less an enticing prospect.

it's pretty good. :)
it's not as mature as the hunger games, but i like it more.
