There was an article in School Library Journal a month or two ago that I thought you all might find interesting. It's written by Jonathan Hunt, librarian and great fan of Megan's books. In writing about possible Printz award winners this year, he throws in a couple of references to Return of the Thief. Go Team Gen!

Whaaaa??? Look what is currently #8 on the New York Times best seller list for children's series! Do you think this will increase the fanbase? Should we prepare welcome baskets?

Take a look at The Horn Book 2011 Mind the Gap Awards.  Funny!  And also true.

Here's my favorite quote from this one: "It makes me happy that there are a number of people for whom my books are exactly what they like best."

To which I say, "Thanks very much, Megan, for writing them!"

Just to suplement the coverage of the LA Times festival--this blogger seems to have transcribed the entire panel discussion.

Here's my favorite bit:

Moderator: A children’s book critic called Megan the queen of subtext – multiple readings of Conspiracy continue to yield a rich appreciation of the text. I think that could be said for all three of you. Would you like to share your thoughts on multiple readings? Do you try to set up situations that become ah-hah moments for readers the second time through?

Megan Whalen Turner: I think the answer is, yes.

Go here: http://whatever.scalzi.com/2011/02/22/the-2010-nebula-awards-nominees/

See any familiar names? Hint: look under "Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy"

Andre Norton & mwt--two great writers that read well together. Lois Bujold describes genre as books in conversation with each other. Given some of these nominees, those are conversations I'd like to get in on!

The list of books nominated for the Andre Norton Award (the YA category of the Nebula Awards) has just been announced:

* Hereville: How Mirka Got Her Sword, Barry Deutsch (Amulet)
* The Boy from Ilysies, Pearl North (Tor Teen)
* I Shall Wear Midnight, Terry Pratchett (Gollancz; Harper)
* A Conspiracy of Kings, Megan Whalen Turner (Greenwillow)

Forgive me if this has been posted here already--honestly, I can't remember what I had for lunch today--but A Conspiracy of Kings is on the Kirkus 2010 Best Books for Teens list.

Yay!

So, Conspiracy of Kings made the Horn Book list for 2010! Yeah! And there's a present for us in the article!

(I have no idea how good this present will actually be, but I want to see it.)
[identity profile] creative-lefty2.livejournal.com
...and "A Conspiracy of Kings" made the list! Yeah!

Here's the link: http://www.kirkusreviews.com/lists/2010-best-books-teens-complete-list/. The one we most care about is nearly at the bottom of the page.

There's a picture (not a great one) of MWT in his post here, and the caption is "You can't see much of it here, but Megan Whalen Turner won the prize for Best Dress". Scroll dooooown to see it.

MWT was there to receive an honor award for ACoK! More about the awards here.
