I hope this is not presumptuous since I joined the community all of five minutes ago (have been a lurker for so long), but I realized I was running out of time to share this.

For those of you who don't recognize me or the name, I am the one who put together the YA Fantasy Showdown where I was tickled pink beyond delight to see Gen win (I was gobsmacked. I never thought he would have such a fan following to rival the likes of Jace or Katsa, but I have quickly learned to never underestimate the MWT love. I just thought I was a part of a minority few). :)

Okay, the news. There are now 90 Newberys and to celebrate author James Kennedy is putting together a star-studded film festival condensing them into ridiculous proportions - 90 seconds. And in November, all the entries for the film festival are premiering at none other than the New York Public Library (and later the Chicago Public Library).

And the best part? Newbery Honors are eligible too. You see where I'm going with this... ;) And mash-ups between winners is completely acceptable, even actively encouraged (I especially love Kennedy's idea of combining a rat-battle between The Secret of NIMH rats and the Tale of Despereux). Gen and Ged meet in The Tombs of Atuan to discuss world mageship vs. kingship? Or Gen in a rousing bowling game taking on The View From Saturday (the winner the year The Thief took the honor)? Ah, too bad Howl never won a Newberry (crime of the century).

And here, to share the MWT love, is my entry to the film festival.

(You have until Oct 17. to enter your own, THE THIEF or otherwise. Someone, do a stop motions with Legos. Please. Anyone?)

This looks so cool! And no, it's not presumptuous at all, we love new people and we love when they bring us new goodies! I'm in class right now, so I can't watch it, but I'll do that as soon as class ends. It looks awesome. And so does the whole idea of the contest.

(Your Fantasy Showdown was one of my favorite internet events ever. I was surprised Gen won, too; he was up against so many favorites, starting with Westley. And then Howl won to take him on in the finals, too? This still just tickles me.)

Ah!!!! I enjoyed the YA Fantasy Showdown IMMENSELY (even though I was almost a year late finding out about it =P). And yes, I'm so proud of Gen, and Sounis for making Gen win!! Yehey! I hope we get another one really soon.

Your video was adorable! I love just how blunt Gen was about his awesomeness! His fans are definitely blunt about it, so he has every right.
