I just had a thought.

In CoK, we learn that Gen first realized he loved Irene while "hiding in a takima bush in the Queen's Garden, watching [Dite] tell Attolia that he loved her."
Do you think this could be one of the things Gen told Dite in the (in)famous garden scene?
During their walk together, Gen had to reveal enough of himself to convince Dite that he (a) actually loved the queen, and (b) that she loved him back, and (c) that he had been just as jealous of Dite as Dite was of him, and (d) that therefore there was no reason for them to go on hating each other.
I don't think Gen could have just said "So, the Queen loves me, and I love her," and expected Dite to believe he wasn't making fun of him or lying.
So do you think Gen might have paused beside a bench in the garden, and said something like "You proposed to the Queen once here."
And Dite would be like, "Uh... how do you know that?"
And Gen would be like, "I was hiding in that bush right there."
And Dite would be like, "How dare you, you gods-blasted bleep bleep of a goat-footed inter--"
And Gen would be like "...And that's the exact moment I realized I was in love with the queen."
And Dite would be like "Huh?"
And Gen would be like, "And that I was *horribly* jealous of you."
And Dite would be like, "...Oh."
And Gen would be like, "Yep. I know exactly how you feel."
And then a little while later Gen would be like "It wasn't your fault she didn't pick up on it when you tried to propose to her that time. She didn't believe me the when I told her I loved her either."
And Dite would be like "I'm still stuck on that part about the bush. How do you hide in a bush?"
Ok, not exactly like that. But, my historical re-creation aside, do you think Gen might have brought it up? Dite would know it was true, because he would remember it himself, and there would be no reason for the King to lie to him about the rest of it. Such a frank and potentially embarrassing admission from the king might have been useful in getting Dite on his side.
Yes? No?
