[identity profile] genndme.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief
Ok, so this is my first real entry *terrified shiver*. Yeah. So, I've been watching all this fanart pop up and felt lead/got an invite to post any that I might have.
When I first read the Thief (only because I had seen the cover of the cover of the KoA and started drooling because it is such an epic cover but I am a stickler for reading things in order but boy was I glad I did!) I pictured Irene/Attolia with blonde hair wearing a dress something like the one I drew. I don't know why. I just did. My brain must have hopped over the part where it describes her with black hair and inserted the word 'blonde' because when I went back to see what the color of her dress was when I started this drawing I was shocked that it said she had black hair.
Yeah. That happens to me sometimes.
So, I drew her with blonde hair. Now, be warned, my scanner is not so good. It's not horrid but it's not great. But it did make her look like she has orange-ish hair. Oh well.
As of yet, I have been too timid and at a total lack of faith in my abilities to even attempt Gen (he's too awesome to mess up) but I'm getting up the nerve to try a different, more realistic style for him. Maybe I'll even do one of him from each book. Anyway, as of yet, he's not here, so you'll just have to wait.

This is my drawing of Irene/Attolia. Yeah, that's the way I picture her (except more realistic-looking).

Hey there!! I'm so glad you posted! I love the way you drew Irene's dress and jewellry...they have a very greek/byzantine feel to me...did you do this with some king of markers or colored pencils? I have tried scanning things that I colored with colored pencil and it doesn't show up well, so that's why I was wondering what you used...

Also..completely agrees about the cover of KoA...I absolutely LOVE it!

Very nice!!

P.S. Just a word of advice about posting pictures...you might want to try putting the picture under a cut, that means that the picture doesn't show up on the main page...the easiest way is to click 'HTML' at the top right hand corner of the text box and type just before the picture...It just makes it easier to people to with slower internet connections to get on Sounis...But, hey, it's your first time posting...I had to get my sister to figure it out for me the first itme I posted, so you're already way ahead :D

Don't worry, you're not the only one who thought Irene was not black-haired. I thought at first she had light brown hair, and I could just imagine just the perfect shade for her... when I discovered her hair was black. *sigh* Oh well, I think I've adjusted my mental image of her enough that it comes naturally just to think of her with black hair. =D But you're not the only one.

Lovely drawing, by the way. I really like the dress. Ooh, and the crown!

Well, what I do for hiding it behind LJ-cut, is that when you're making a post, there's this button, the third one after the Image Button, called LiveJournal-cut. What you do is highlight the text you want to hide, and just click on that button. That should do it for you.

Regarding the lj-cut, if you do it in HTML instead of rich text, use the following tags.

or (if you want to put something clever or obvious) before the text and after the portion you want hidden.

Drat, forget to log in and screwed up the formatting.

There's an brief explanation here on how to put an lj-cut on entries when using HTML: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqcat=basic

Just remember to put [/lj-cut] (replace the [ ] with < > for it to work) at the end on the part you want hidden.

I don't think it belongs in the kid's section either...But TT won a Newberry so people just assume that it and it's sequels are childrens' books.

And yes, I have read books just because I like their covers...I read the Truth Series by Dawn Cook (which I now reccomend to everyone) because I liked the cover....My icon comes from the cover of the second book...doesn't that look intriguing?

Well, I'm glad you asked!

This series focuses on a girl named Alissa who doesn't beleive in magic. So when her mother sends her in search of a magical fortress straight out of one of her fathers bedtime stories, Alissa isn't happy. Along her way she meets a traveling minstrel who is fleeing some bad news of his own, and they travel together to the Hold. Once there, they are snowed in with the madman who murdered Alissa's father and will kill her too if he finds out who her parents are. Alissa and Strell have to pull off an elaborate ruse if they hope to survive the winter. It's a really great series, and the charachters seem very real, and there's alot of funny stuff thrown in the mix.

Just magic, and a little dragon type stuff later on in the series.
