Wow, I love how you used alot of the pictures in sepia or black and white...somehow it just makes a more powerful statement...I think that you really showed what a strong charachter Gen is...It also makes me want to give him a hug! *hugs Gen*

White Collar! I don't remember who posted about Neal's similarity to Gen in a recent entry here, but it turned me on to White Collar and ever since I've been comparing the two in my head. I love this icon.

Thank you! Yay, for WC! :D I'm so glad you're enjoying one of my favorite show. It's so good, and Neal and Peter do give one frequent Gen and Magus vibes. Sometimes it's a little creepy, even though fundamentally, they are quite different characters.

If you like WC, you may also enjoy a similar heist show, Leverage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZcqzcVt3MU). It also has an awesome thief character (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI6rxNXFMdk&feature=related)! It's about of group of four former thieves, all the with very specific talents, the best at what they do, lead by former insurance investigator and mastermind, Nathan Ford. Together they form an association called Leverage, which aids the victims of corrupt CEOs, racketeer rings, and even once fellow thieves, to steal back what was stolen from them. I asked my dad about White Collar and he said the main character (the Gen act-alike) is a bit of a playboy, is that true? If it is, that's much different from the Gen we know and love. =)

Neal is a con-artist, a grifter, and a forger before he is the "crawl-n-prowl"/mastermind type like Gen. (Though he has jumped off a few buildings.) He charms and sweet talks women for cons, and he definitely enjoys the process, however he's not the James Bond type. He doesn't fool around with an endless string of women. Through most of the series, he's very focused on his long-term girlfriend, Kate Moreau. The series starts with her missing, and being desperately in love with her, Neal is anxious to find her. After something happens to Kate and there are some doubts about her being a trustworthy person, he begins to become interested in a former enemy of his, the talented insurance investigator Sara Ellis.

Fundamentally, Neal is a very different character from Gen, but the more you watch the show, the stronger the Gen vibes get, so I would say the general feel of the character is quite similar. Neal's cocky smirk and snazzy dressing style can't help but remind you of Gen. I like to call him Gen in a fedora. :)

Ok, so I was wrong (sorta). Just, I saw a TV "preview" for it recently and it showed him mashing his face against another woman's as they swayed "dramatically"... I nearly puked and changed the channel.

It does look interesting. I'm not big on TV shows but my dad adores NCIS and I find it pretty interesting.

Neal really does start out like Gen at the begining of TT. >D

Yeah, too bad they have to stick stuff like that in it to make it "good". I personally think it detracts from his character (what I've seen of it).

Well, I wouldn't say it detracts from his character. If Neal weren't a charming flirt, his character wouldn't make that much sense. Charming and sexy are kinda interchangeable in a place like 21st century New York City. The morality of Gen's world is different, because he doesn't have to be sexy in order to be charming. And charm is an important tool in a conman's arsenal.

I still have a lot of respect for Neal, because he's only genuinely interested in one woman at any one given point in time. They're make-out scene, but not an obscene amount. And they're mostly between Neal and Sara and Neal and Kate in the back-flashes. There's also Peter and his wife, Elizabeth, but they're just cute!

That's probably my issue with him. If he's so interested in the girl, go ahead and marry her, then 'make-out'. 'Charming flirt' I don't mind so long as his 'flirt' doesn't turn into anything worse. 0_0

Personally, I don't think anyone needs to be sexy to be charming. If I met a guy who opened the door for me, walked closer to the street so that I'd be further from the curb (my dad did that for my mom and, guess what, now they're married ;D), and pulled my chair out for me all while giving me witty conversation I'd fall all over him and be praying he proposed.

Neal probably would've married Kate if they hadn't been fugitives, and then Neal was in prison. Neal's hasn't known Sara for that long, and there's some serious trust issues they have to work out first. Not to mention, he's current tethered to a tracking anklet.

So old fashioned! XD Keh, that would be nice, but human relationships tend to be a lot more complicated.

Ok, good for Neal. But, if Neal has no problem doing a one-night-stand with Sara then he should be ok marrying her. A tracking anklet? Seriously? What's that all about?

Yeah, but if a guy did that, I'd vote him as most charming man of the month/year. You don't have to be sexy to be charming.

As far as I know, Neal hasn't slept with Sara yet. That scene from the preview didn't get very far, because Mozzie interrupted them. XD

Neal was set to serve an additional four sentence in prison, but he got out on the condition that he'd work for the FBI as a consultant for those four years instead. The tracking anklet is to ensure he doesn't run.
