Introduction and Turner Love

Hello!

Very nice to meet you all. I'm Shelver, a longtime Megan Whalen Turner fan. I was guided over here by the Queen's Thief Week brouhaha and was thrilled to see other people just as obsessed as myself! I have a lot of backreading to do to make sure I don't duplicate an idea that's already been analyzed to death, but I look forward to learning more about this community and how it works.

Anyways, YA Highway hosted a Valentine's Day Blog Lovefest today and challenged all their readers to write a valentine to someone (author, fictional character, audience, cat, whatever), and I chose Ms. Turner. As it's the only thing I know to contribute at this time, I figured I'd make it my very first post.

I love the letter you wrote! I tried commenting on the post itself, but I'm not sure if it took... blogspot confuses me. But I'll tell you here, too! It describes my feelings about the series, and so wonderfully well-put.

And never be worried about rehashing old themes; we love talking about them again. (Except maybe how old Gen is. We've sort of beaten that horse double-dead.)

As Drashizu said, don't worry about bringing up themes and ideas that have already been discussed, because once we've analyzed a theory to death, we resurrect it from the grave and feed it ice cream. :) In other words, there's always something new to add!

Welcome Shelver!

I liked your love letter. I think one of my favourite parts of KOA was falling in love with Gen again as Costis fell for him.

Rehash way as you like because its like KoA again watching someone new fall into squeel with Gen.

I see you didn't include the comic book Gen story in your letter. Have you read it yet? The Disney Adventure one. Its on my mind because I finally found one.

Not so much comic book as magazine short story. Look in the tags under Disney Adventures short stories. It's great, of course. From August 2000. I joined the com here just to have access to that story in someone's link, and then I stayed around just because Sounis is home to some of the most clever people on the planet...with great tastes in literature.

Re: comments - All you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the post and click on where it says "X comments" (right now it only has 1 comment, so it read "1 comments", but at some point I'd like that to change). Then you write your comment and click what "ID" you want to use. There's an option for Blogger, WordPress, etc., but LiveJournal would probably be the easiest for anyone here, for obvious reasons. Then you just click enter and voila!

And you were so right about the beginning of KoA!! I didn't like the idea of being so separated from Gen, and not even knowing what he was doing half the time!! And I just kept thinking there's something up his sleeve, but I never knew what because Costis was too blind to see it!!
