Hi, all you lovely Sounisians!

I know you haven't heard from me in forever -- and you probably won't again for a while -- I'm WAY busy at this time of year. But I was scanning one of my professional journals this morning, and I came across this article. Check out what Megan Whalen Turner says about her summer reading! (scroll down a little). And her childhood summers -- Walter Farley, hmm? MWT, should you visit the northeast again, I promise to take you riding. Really!! Hopefully on a horse who can see where he's going, unlike the one in my avi.

As for what I'm reading, myself... I just finished Rose Under Fire, by Elizabeth Wein, and it's fantastic! I liked it even better than "Code Name Verity!" Also, I've been racing through Rae Carson's  The Crown of Embers, which is a really fun read -- better than the first one, & I'm really enjoying it! I cant wait for the 3rd. I am also plodding rather slowly through The Near Witch. One of my colleagues, whom I really respect, told me it was beautifully written. It is, but not in a way that draws me in, personally. And there are little glitches. For instance, people just don't "turn off" lights in a world where they only have candles. With oil lamps, this might work -- you actually do turn those, to control the wick's height. But Victoria Schwab doesn't mention any other lighting than candles....

Well, I am a very picky reader.

Which is why I love MWT! (Although I still want the publishers/editors to get rid of that extra horse in The Thief!)

MY TBR list is miles long -- so I'll talk about that in a later post ;-D

So, what are you reading this summer? Do MWT's choices appeal to you -- or are you into something else?

Happy Reading!

YAY ROSE! I was really anxious about how people would like that one, partly because I loved it so much and partly because everyone seemed so real to me. Happily, everyone I've seen who's read it loved it.
