Well, you are in luck! Megan Whalen Turner will be the keynote speaker at the Chattanooga Public Library's annual meeting. You can go and listen, and "Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served in a relaxed, reception-type atmosphere." So you've got that going for you.
Her topic will be "The importance of teaching kids how to judge books so that we can trust them to choose their own reading material by the time they are teens." Read all about it here.

And who should walk in just after me? MWT. She came for the same reason. It was a rollicking good time, even though I couldn't muster up the courage to break out my mountain dulcimer and jump in. But I sang with tuneless gusto!
