So, I was listening to my Pandora Fun. channel (admit it--you like them) and heard a song that made me stop and listen to the lyrics.  It's so QT!

Take a look at the lyrics:

For once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me
I used to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up

The city outside still sounds like it’s on fire
You put on new sheets, the white flag of a Saturday night
I know we stayed up talking in circles
But I like to think the symmetry will keep me close to you

For everyone, I’m out to prove wrong, you keep the light on
The only one, you know me better than the truth
So, despite what I’ve done, I pray to God that we can move on
'Cause thus far you are the best thing that this life has yet to lose

And for once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me
I used to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up
I lay here waiting for you to wake up

So if you gonna leave, if you gonna go
I can’t bear to sleep without you in my arms
I know we got caught up sifting through a crowd of pebbles and lures
But you must not let them take you
They don’t know you like I do

Chorus

Do you remember when we stayed up till the sun strikes through the room
I used to blame it on the Queen’s Walk in down 7th avenue
It’s been years now since we moved
I gotten good at an excuse
You know I try not to speak superlatives
But it’s impossible with you

The city outside is nothing but a flicker now
You see our friends to bed, you turn out the lights
I start to think you’ll make a beautiful mother I,
I like to think I have everything I want from this life

And here is a link to the song.

Anyone else have a song that just screams Queen's Thief?

Two. I've mentioned them before. But I have to polish up my linkety-link skillz for lyrics and such. Also, I took a screen shot from another author's page on Facebook, and I want to show that here. Good luck to me!

My sister pointed out once that Carbon Leaf's "Life Less Ordinary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcyS90pdcuw)" could be read as QT.

Me, I really want someone to make an awesome fanvid to P!nk's "

Me, I really want someone to make an awesome fanvid to P!nk's "<a href="pink just give me a reason lyrics"Just give me a reason</a>." i read it as sometime around/before the start of King, the first (really) rough patch Attolia and Gen go through; wondering what the hell they've done.

Yes, "Eyes on Fire" by Blue Foundation. It totally reminds me of The Queen of Attolia. The lyrics seems to go between Gen and Attolia's point of view.

It's not perfect, but Ellie Goulding's Lights always reminds me of Attolia.

"Lights"

I had a way then losing it all on my own
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now, the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone

'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone home

Voices I play within my head
Touch my own skin and hope that I'm still breathing.
And I think back to when my brother of my sister slept
In an unknown place the only time I feel safe

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone

'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone home

...

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone

I've posted these before, but here's my top two:

"I Remain" - Alanis Morissette (From the film "Prince of Persia")

"Only You" - Sinead O'Connor (From the film "The Young Victoria")

(I tried posting YouTube links but the comment was marked as spam.)

The first I hear from Irene's perspective during QoA/KoA, in regards to Gen. The second is sweeter in tone and could be about both Gen and Irene in KoA/ACoK. The lyrics in each are so spot-on!

I Remain:

How crass you stand before me with
no blood to fuel your fame
How dare you wield such flippancy
without requisite shame
Your very existence becomes my sacred
mission's bane
You bow to kiss my hand
and I ignore ignited flame

How I'm moved to meet you
Untouched I do remain

To some it seems foreign why I
Would steely forge ahead
This land entrusted to me knows
not of hallowed secrets

I'll keep it to myself
While your brave eyes swim in my head
Your charm can not distract me from
the path I'm born to tread

How I'm thrilled to know you
Unaffected I remain
How I've learned to like you
Undeterred I do remain

Less daunting as a team
You unlikely king by my side
And me so much better for trusting you

My hand over your heart while you
keep hindrances at bay
Color me surprised by how our union saves the day

How I've grown to need you
As my soldier need fades
How I love to love you
And how I, how I remain

I remain

Only You:

My love
Your love
Has opened up a world I've never known
All hope
Was found
A place I never dreamed I would go
Feels like only yesterday
I had locked my heart away
Safe behind a castle of stone
Sure I'd always be alone

Only you know how
To hear me through the silence
You reach a part of me that no one else can see
Forever true there's only me and only you
Only me and you

In your face (fate?) I trust
With you beside me I am standing strong
One truth
Two hearts
You took my life and made it beautiful
So you dared to let me shine
Even walk a step behind
Willingly you give yourself to me
Knowing who I was born to be

Only you know how
To hear me through the silence
You reach a part of me that no one else can see
Forever true
there's only me
And only you
Only me and you

Mine is Power of Two by Indigo Girls. I too would link but I know the SPAM filter will get me. Lyrics below:

Now the parking lot is empty
Everyone's gone someplace
I pick you up and in the trunk I've packed
A cooler and a 2-day suitcase
Cause there's a place we like to drive
Way out in the country
Five miles out of the city limit we're singing
And your hand's upon my knee

So we're okay
We're fine
Baby I'm here to stop your crying

Chase all the ghosts from your head
I'm stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We'll look at them together then we'll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that's true
Multiply life by the power of two

You know the things that I am afraid of
I'm not afraid to tell
And if we ever leave a legacy
It's that we loved each other well
'Cause I've seen the shadows of so many people
Trying on the treasures of youth
But a road that fancy and fast ends
Ends in a fatal crash
And I'm glad we got off
To tell you the truth

'Cause we're okay
We're fine
Baby I'm here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I'm stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We'll look at them together then we'll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that's true
Multiply life by the power of two

All the shiny little trinkets of temptation
(Make new friends)
Something new instead of something old
(But keep the old)
All you gotta do is scratch beneath the surface
(But remember what is gold)
And it's fools gold
(What is gold)
Fools gold
(What is gold)
Fools gold

Now we're talking about a difficult thing
And your eyes are getting wet
I took us for better and I took us for worse
Don't you ever forget it
Now the steel bars between me and a promise
Suddenly bend with ease
The closer I'm bound in love to you
The closer I am to free

So we're okay
We're fine
Baby I'm here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I'm stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We'll look at them together then we'll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that's true
Multiply life by the power of two

Anyone else have a song that just screams Queen's Thief?

Yes I do! I've thought for years that Winning a Battle, Losing the War by Kings of Convenience was Gen during Queen of Attolia:

Even though I'll never need her,
even though she's only given me pain,
I'll be on my knees to feed her,
spend the day to make her smile again.
Even though I'll never need her,
even though she's only giving me pain
As the world is soft around her,
leaving me with nothing to disdain.

Even though I'm not her minder,
even though she doesn't want me around,
I am on my feet to find her,
to make sure that she is safe and sound.
Even though I'm not her minder,
even though she doesn't want me around,
I am on my feet to find her,
to make sure that she is safe from harm.

The sun sets on the war,
the day breaks and everything is new...
