Cool! I'm so behind on the Paks books - I got to book three of the Oath of Fealty books, and despite really liking them, I was frustrated at the release schedule and lack of conclusion (well, duh, five books, but still, I'm impatient). One of these days, I'll finish the series, and then perhaps I'll get to these nice little short stories! Moon has done the best job of capturing a Tolkien-esque world and philosophy without feeling lazily derivative (though they're absolutely derivative, and nothing wrong with that).

They are *very* immersive, so I'm kind of waiting to have them all in hand before reading them. If there's a print edition of the short stories, I'd probably read that first.

Both Elizabeth Moon and Tanya Huff write both science fiction and fantasy, and both are very filk-friendly. The collections are a great way to check out several of their stories and get a good taste/feel of their styles, at an affordable price. [The library is also an exciting, viable option.]
