Not sure if I'm the only one paying close attention to mwt's tumblr, but there's a little mystery there that may interest some of you! I didn't notice until recently, but for a while now, she's been tagging certain posts with the acronym "rkif", and not letting on what it means. Some people have been speculating that it could stand for the title of the next book, in light of the recent rumors about release dates... Is this a cleverly disguised hint? A taunt? Or something else entirely??
Anyway, here are all the tagged posts, if anybody wants to scour them and make some guesses!

Mountains, forests, long distance communication. Maybe the 'K' is something to do with Kathodicia, where Phresine came from?

I've been agonizing over this for DAYS. I'm making myself miserable, and it's probably not even a title. She doesn't tag her other posts with titles, so why would she start now??? ??? !!! ??eiodskzlasdfghjkl;

The K could stand for Kairos (for the Magus, if the theory that his name means "time" is correct?) or more likely, Kamet. MWT did say "slave" when describing this book in five words.

I've speculated maybe the F stands for Ferria. I didn't even consider the K standing for a place, but Kathodicia would be awesome. (Though aren't there a lot of rocks there?)

My friend (whom I recently got hooked on these books) thinks maybe the -IF could stand for "in February"? It's a weird thing to tag those posts with, if that's true, but I just nodded and smiled. Anything to help her get through her (comparatively short XD) wait for the next book.

You may speculate, but only if it makes you happy. If you are making yourself ill, I will send you to bed like Phresine and no bedtime story, either.

Seriously, I mostly use the tumblr as a scrapbook for things I find interesting that I want to look at again some time. I don't believe in teasing people*. When I can't know exactly who is in my audience, it is too hard to tell where the line is between okay and not okay. That's why I stopped posting coffee pics.

~mwt

*okay, that policy is maybe honored more in the breach.

Aw, we love your coffee pics, or at least I do. Our obsessive coffeemancy ought not to constrain you!

Oh, you LOVE to tease us. <3

Rowdy Kings in Fights (Gen and Sophos beat the crap out of Nahuserfish)

Red Kilts in Ferria. (Can you picture Dite in one?)

I tried to think of some rude ones, but couldn't. Where are some reprobates when you need them?

It makes me happy! The more I think about these books, the happier I get. Thank you. :)

The "R" is almost certainly for "Russian", based on the contents of the stuff she's reblogging. My hunch is it relates to an upcoming project unconnected to the Attolia books, unless she is planning to send Gen & Co. VERY far afield in Book 5 or 6.

Russian Kings? Russian Knights? Russian Knitting? No idea about the "if" part.

Non-fiction?

Not Russia, RJ. But you are right, not anything to do with Attolia, either. It's probably just another example of how I don't understand tumblr. I wanted to be able to pull them all up at once with a search, and not pull up everything else in the world with a similar hashtag, but now when I search for the hashtag, only a few posts show up in my results. Sigh. I am an old.

Darn, my guess was "Russia," too. :-)

(Tumblr is still a big mystery to me, too. I only found out recently that you're supposed to "like" posts so you can find them later, and I thought, oh, liking something saves it? Huh, I just "like" things because I enjoy them but don't necessarily want to repost them. WHOOPS.)

Nooooo!

Do not pay attention, beloved author!

Just give us random hints about the next book -- do not pay attention at all!

You also have "rifk" going - possibly a typo? I ask because it only has two beautiful pictures of mountains and one beautiful picture of a castle in it, rather than the 2 pages of results for the other one.

I noticed this as well, and my gut says it's related to something other than the QT stories. A future project, perhaps? I might be wrong.

I confess that I've been a little bit more struck by the really creepy spider post and other bug-like things she's recently been posting... *shivers* I actually had to exit from tumblr

Date: 1/22/16 05:04 am (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
Oh, I thought maybe the spider was a model for some knitting. It has very pretty colors, and is quite fuzzy.

OK, so I am trying to make it less disturbing, and I don't know if I'm succeeding

But actually, the spider -- and particularly the caterpillars -- reminded me of Sophos, and his nature studies when he was supposed to be building walls. (Don't know about the slug, though. I will concede -- that's gross!)

Ah, RKIF. My sisters and I have been having a lot of fun speculating about what it stands for. Most of what we've come up with is crack and too embarrassing to share. (Kilts and Fresno were involved.)

I've got a feeling it's not connected to QT though. New short story maybe?
