So, I've had a cup of tea and a moment to calm down, and have (mostly) silienced my internal screaming. It's time to review everything we know about book five and update our theories.

There may be minor SPOILERS in this post, so if you don't want to know anything about the book other than the title and cover before you read it, please do not click.

Title: Thick as Thieves (TaT?)

Page Length: 400 pages (source) That's longer than all the other books.

Megan informed me that this is false information. 352 pages is the count currently listed on Amazon.

Release Date: May 16, 2017

Cover-

Details -

A burning ship on the waves.

A dock with two dock ladders.

A female figure in a flowing dress with her hair in a bun.

Two figures walking together that appear to be male

A gold building, a megaron I assume, with birds in flight overhead

Hills.

The Keywords-

"dirt. gold. slave. lion. ship." (source)

(There's a ship on fire on the front cover! What does it mean?)

MWT-

Book 5 is the second half of The King of Attolia. (source)

Book 5 was re-written into first person from third person. (source) There has been speculation that the book is written from a new character's POV.

Theories, reprobates?

Is part of the book going to take place at sea? Will Pirate!Sophos finally be realized? Who set the ship on fire? Are we going to have a Queen Liz vs. the Spanish Armada battle between the Tri-nation Alliance of Eugenides (I just made that up) and the Mede?

Is Costis going to return as a major player if this book is picking up where KoA left off?

Whose megaron is that?

Who are the people walking and the woman standing by herself?

Is the slave Megan talking about Kamet? He did escape with Nahusersquish on a ship. Was Kamet kidnapped by pirates and eventually became one himself? Is this book turning into the Princess Bride?

GUYS!!! PIRATES!!!!!!

*really wants pirates to be in this book

I will try to add new information to this post as it becames available. If you see anything missing, please post it in the comments.

You know, as I was reading all the stuff above, I was thinking HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF KAMET WAS THE MAIN CHARACTER??? and then I got to the summary and woooooo, I am so on board with this I can't even tell you. Finally we get a Mede perspective! And I've always loved Kamet - he was clearly too good to be stuck serving Nahuserfish.

Count me as one of the people who are SHOCKED that it's about Kamet!! I never entertained the idea before! This would be a really fun ride. I think it'll be great to get a glimpse of the other side of the story.

Also, there may or may not be an elephant in this book. (Probably not, as MWT said it was more likely to be in the next one, but you never know.) http://enchantedinkpot.livejournal.com/50628.html

Not gonna lie, the first thing I thought yesterday was, "FINALLY, WE WILL MEET THE ELEPHANT."

HUZZAH! I've been so into the idea of it being from Kamet's POV that I sorta forgot we hadn't had that confirmed... until now! I hope he runs into Costis at some point. :)

The idea of a Costis and Kamet tag-team is giving me life right now. I mean, there has to be SOME reason that Gen was drilling Costis on his Mede vocabulary...

I think you're right about the lion thing... if you notice, the male figure on the left of TaT matches one they used on the new cover for The Thief. I thought it was Eugenides, but now I think it might be Sophos!

...except we already KNOW what happened to Sophos during the events of KoA-CoK. And we know where Eugenides was. Maybe not in the gap between KoA and CoK, but I never thought that was very long.

So maybe the figure is Costis, and they just got lazy in designing. XD

EXCEPT one could also assume that is Attolia standing on the left? It looks like I'd expect Attolia to look. So is she looking after the men, or is she standing watch over her kingdom?

Definitely sure Costis is somewhere in Media by now ..... didn't make the connection that he's the one that's going to be thick with anyone - but it does make sense because Costis has agreed to serve Gen's god, the god of thieves.

This post. Made me late for work! (Ok, I actually did make it in with one minute to spare .....)

Good news is it woke my sister up - and got her out of bed!!

(So one Eugenides says go to bed, and the other makes people jump out of bed.... pretty good match up!).

One really GOOD thing we can tell from MWT saying she's working on Book 6: Gen must still be alive and well at the end of TaT!
And I do think this was a legitimate concern, considering she has already stuck a sword through him in TT and chopped his hand off in QoA!

And another sword in him, in KoA. Poor guy.

Whisper of warning...

My brother pointed out that in the books so far, whispers and warnings tend be from Moira, rather than the human characters. And she has certainly visited the Medes before...
The gods have not forgotten the King of Attolia?
