AAHH...I have 2 ARCs! (And I'm willing to pass them on!)

Look what I found at the American Library Association conference this weekend!  I saw someone had gotten one from the exhibit hall on Twitter, and all but ran to go grab a copy for myself. And then when I saw there was one more copy left yesterday as the conference was ending, I couldn't help but grab a second one.

No one else I talked to at the conference quite understood how exciting it was to get this ARC, so I had to post here.  It's so weird to me that I was still in college when I first started reading this series (and joined Sounis), and since then I've graduated college, become a teacher, quit teaching, went to grad school, and became a librarian.  It's been so long! But now being a librarian means I occasionally get to do fun things like go to conferences and get ARCs.

I'm only a couple of chapters into Thick as Thieves (the downside of being an adult now is having adult responsibilities), but I'm super excited to read the rest of it. Once I read it, I'm willing to pass both of my ARCs along! I'm going to be buying a copy once it comes out anyway.

Comment here by Feb. 3 if you'd like an ARC, and I'll pick a couple of people at random. I'll cover the cost of shipping in the US, but if you want me to send it internationally, I'll ask you to reimburse me for shipping. My only request in return is that you go post a review of the book somewhere publicly (Goodreads, Amazon, your own blog, etc.) once you read it, so that we can get lots of other people interested in this series!

I'm so conflicted about the new covers! On the one hand, I want all my books to match. On the other hand, there's no way I'm getting rid of my personalized/signed copies of the older books, and I don't have space on my bookshelves for both covers.

The lack of space is why I'm not keeping these ARCs once I read them, despite the fact that the pack rat in me would love to have both the ARC and the final copy.

Haha, you all are such enablers! I have a tiny NYC apartment that I share with two roommates, and I'm already taking over the living room with books and board games, even though it's supposed to be shared space.

...But I very well may end up caving and asking for the new versions for my birthday or Christmas this year.

What we need to do is pool our money and hire the guy who did the other covers to make a special TaT cover just for us. Then we can each buy an extra copy of TaT and replace the dust jacket with the special one, and then we would have matching sets. (Actually, I really ought to make matching hardcover dj's for Thief and QoA...)

!! My heart skips a beat every time I see a picture of one of these ARC beauties! I'm in the U.S. and I would definitely have a whole lineup of people to pass it on to. I'm also pre-ordering my own copies of all the new books, to support my favorite author and this wonderful series. (Though my heart will always belong to the old covers.) Good thing I bought another bookshelf at my neighbor's yard sale... :)

OMG I can't even believe the new book will be out in a matter of months.

Last night, I searched MWT on iTunes as I do occasionally, and I almost had a heart attack when I saw the relatively near release of the new book!! All of the adrenaline of my childhood flooded my system. Can't wait

Good to know! I admit, I was a little disappointed by CoK, but that's because KoA is one of my favorite books ever and therefore almost anything else would be a let down. But I still liked CoK, and am hoping I like this one more!

To be perfectly honest, CoK is probably my least favorite in the series.

However, it's still better than 90% of everything else I've ever read, and it's grown on me quite a bit with re-reads. I love Sophos.

KoA is my long-time favorite, and TaT is tied with it, or possibly leading by just a little. That may be because it's new material. It could go back to being tied at some point. :)

That's super exciting! Hard to believe that after all these years it's so close to coming out. I plan on getting the new editions once they release, though I do prefer the beautiful illustrations on the last covers. My brother is going to be so stoked; he's an even bigger fan of this series than I am.
