Exclusive Queen’s Thief Map Giveaway!

To celebrate the release of the Thick as Thieves paperback coming out on May 15th, and now available for pre-order at Harper Collins, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or your local book store down the street...

Harper Collins - Epic Reads has been very generous to offer us an exclusive giveaway to celebrate the release of the paperback! Epic Reads is giving away TEN copies of the Queen’s Thief universe map.

Yes, that beautiful map.

In order to make this a little more fun and colorful, we want you to tell us something you think is going to happen in the next QT book--a scene, a character, something specific. Give us your best guess! If you win, your prediction will be posted to the main page when the winners are announced on May 15th.

EDIT: This post is currently "sticky" and will remain so till May 15th. Please, look an entry below for newer posts.
"Sticky-ness" removed.

EDIT 2: Sign-ups are now closed. Thanks to all who entered!

How do I sign up?

It’s simple! Let us know in the comments below what your prediction about book six is. The winners will be chosen at random from all who enter, so don’t worry about competing with other entries. Have as much fun with it as you like!

How long do I have to enter?

Entry submissions open today and close at Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) on Monday, May 14th. So, you have two whole weeks to enter.

Can I enter if I’m not located in the United States?

Harper Collins is limited to shipping within the United States. If you know someone who lives in the United States, you might be able to work something out with them.

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] checkers65477 has said, if you are located overseas and wish to enter, she could probably work out receiving and passing along the package to you. She'll most likely need you to reimburse her for shipping, as international shipping can be very expensive.

Can I still enter if I don’t have a Livejournal account?

Livejournal does have the option for you to comment using a Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Dreamwidth account.

If you’re a lurker thinking about joining [livejournal.com profile] sounis, here’s a few good reasons why.

[livejournal.com profile] sounis is the platform most conductive for discussing the QT universe. You’ll meet many lovely, friendly, and intelligent QT fans from all over the world.

If you join the community, you’ll also gain access to the Conspiracy Room, a chat room for [livejournal.com profile] sounis members. We hold semi-regular live chats in the Conspiracy Room and MWT herself is often an attendee.

Other content exclusive to community members--the fan-made readaloud and signing MWT’s birthday e-card before she sees it.

If none of the above options will work for you, no worries, we understand! Feel free to enter using the anonymous comment feature, but do please sign your comment with a handle, name, nickname, or some pseudonym we can identify you by.

How do I know if I’ve won?

If you’ve entered as a signed in user, I will reply to your comment that you’re a winner. You will automatically receive an email that someone has replied to your comment. I will be titling my replies, "You’ve Won!" There will also be instructions for how you will receive your prize. Just a heads up, sometimes LJ can be glitchy with notifications, so it’s not a bad idea to also check back here.

If you’ve commented anonymously, I will still reply to your comment, but you will not receive an email. You’ll need to keep an eye on your entry after the sign-up period is over. I will also be posting the names of the winners directly to the community on May 15th

If I win, how do I receive my prize?

Harper Collins will be shipping it directly to you. You do not have to pay for shipping, but your address must be located in the United States.

Can I share this with others?

Yes, please signal boast and share on other platforms or tag people you think may be interested in signing up.

If there are any questions I missed, please ask. I will also be at the chat on Sunday if you’d prefer to speak more directly.

Do give Mira ([livejournal.com profile] openedlocket) a round of applause for making the banner!

I have no earthly idea what will happen, because I'm always crazy surprised. But I can say what I hope happens-I hope it turns out that Irene didn't really lose her baby and we will see the baby in book 6.

Great idea, Lady Jane. Go for it.

Also, if anyone overseas wants to enter and they win, I would most likely be able to ship the lovely shiny map to them.

Prediction entry!

I think Gen’s brother, Stenides the watchmaker, will make Gen an awesome mechanical prosthetic hand. I’m picturing something with all kinds of attachments like a lock pick, knife, watch, compass, secret compartments...cut your own meat already, little brother!

I'm going to guess Nahuseresh returns. Somehow I don't think we've seen the last of him.

I don't think I can even try to predict what's going to happen in the next book, because I'm always surprised (pleasantly of course!) but I'm HOPING that we will get to see Sophos and Helen in married life and also some domestic Costis and Kamet (love those guys)💕

My name I forgot to mention

He's been the "big bad" at some level for awhile, off on the other side of the ocean, dying, but not yet. Plotting, and being plotted about. I hope we get to see him.

Yes, that is definitely a requirement!

Sophos and Helen would have a much different (more sane and pleasant) relationship than Gen and Irene! But where will they live, and each keep ruling their own country?? Somehow I have trouble picturing Helen living in Sounis. Sophos would be happy in Eddis but it seems like Sounis would kind of fall apart under long-distance governance...
Hmm

Well jeez, LiveJournal, what is wrong with you? Ok, I've stuck it to the top of the page.

I make no promises about paying for postage without knowing how large the maps are, etc. but am willing to look into it if someone overseas enters and wins.

I predict...

I think we'll see more of Gen growing alarmed at his reputation and power expanding beyond his control. I think the people around him, especially those he loves, will keep assuming he can do anything, which will start to really freak him out---like at the end of ACoK.

I also think we'll see Helen and Irene becoming even closer friends and making everybody nervous. :D

My prediction is kind of dour. My sister and I are convinced that Irene and Gen will be unable to have children, and will make the child of Sophos and Eddis the heir of the united kingdoms.

Actually, my less sad prediction in general is that the focal characters of the next book will be the kids in the next generation.

I predict that one (or more) of the three things will happen:

1. We discover the identity of the mysterious goddess at the end of QoA.
2. The Magus finds hisself a wife.
3. Irene steals Gen's earrings for a change.

My (slightly depressing) prediction!

Hi, hi! I'm predicting that Irene will be our POV character for book six, and we're going to jump into the end of the war against the Mede. It's been raging for several years (maybe a decade plus?) now, and Irene and Gen are anxious to end it asap; the stress of the war and her age cause Irene to have difficulties bringing a pregnancy to term. Finally, the war ends just barely shy of a Pyrrhic victory, but the birth of the heir (finally!) has the Little Peninsula feeling hopeful for the future. (I didn't mean for this prediction to be so... serious, lol.)

I'll predict that one of the Magus's offhand comments from the first two books will turn out to be itself an uncannily accurate prediction, but not in the way he'd expected (given he was assuming Sounis or the Mede would control the peninsula by this point in time...) - mclare

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single Magus in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife...
