In order to make this a little more fun and colorful, we want you to tell us something you think is going to happen in the next QT book--a scene, a character, something specific. Give us your best guess! If you win, your prediction will be posted to the main page when the winners are announced on May 15th.

How do I sign up?

It’s simple! Let us know in the comments below what your prediction about book six is. The winners will be chosen at random from all who enter, so don’t worry about competing with other entries. Have as much fun with it as you like!

How long do I have to enter?

Entry submissions open today and close at Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) on Monday, May 14th. So, you have two whole weeks to enter.

Can I enter if I’m not located in the United States?

Harper Collins is limited to shipping within the United States. If you know someone who lives in the United States, you might be able to work something out with them.

EDIT: checkers65477 has said, if you are located overseas and wish to enter, she could probably work out receiving and passing along the package to you. She'll most likely need you to reimburse her for shipping, as international shipping can be very expensive.


Can I still enter if I don’t have a Livejournal account?

Livejournal does have the option for you to comment using a Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Dreamwidth account.

A steampunk hand was not on my wishlist before, but now it most certainly is! Now that you mention it, why doesn't Gen have interchangable hands like Gobber in How to Train Your Dragon? One with a hammer, one with a lockpick, one with a toothbrush... Ah, I've thought too much about this.

I think we'll see more of Gen growing alarmed at his reputation and power expanding beyond his control. I think the people around him, especially those he loves, will keep assuming he can do anything, which will start to really freak him out---like at the end of ACoK.

I also think we'll see Helen and Irene becoming even closer friends and making everybody nervous. :D

My prediction is kind of dour. My sister and I are convinced that Irene and Gen will be unable to have children, and will make the child of Sophos and Eddis the heir of the united kingdoms.

Actually, my less sad prediction in general is that the focal characters of the next book will be the kids in the next generation.

My (slightly depressing) prediction!

Hi, hi! I'm predicting that Irene will be our POV character for book six, and we're going to jump into the end of the war against the Mede. It's been raging for several years (maybe a decade plus?) now, and Irene and Gen are anxious to end it asap; the stress of the war and her age cause Irene to have difficulties bringing a pregnancy to term. Finally, the war ends just barely shy of a Pyrrhic victory, but the birth of the heir (finally!) has the Little Peninsula feeling hopeful for the future. (I didn't mean for this prediction to be so... serious, lol.)

I predict that...

- Pigeon will be our POV character.

- Costis and Kamet will adopt a pet and/or several houseplants, that Costis will cheerfully over-feed/over-water while Kamet looks on in mild dismay.

- Irene and Sophos will become pen-pals, driving their Eddisian spouses mad with curiosity. ("How is your Eddisian? Mine's looking a bit peaky...")

- Heiro will do something epic (even Gen will be impressed, though not surprised).

- MWT will shock and amaze us all.

I think some of these are more likely than others:
-There will be an increase in Mede aggression but it won't turn into a full-fledged war because Eugenides will somehow get onto the lead Mede ship and wreck somethings.
-Sophos will be his awesome second-in-command
-Giant Council-of-War with the four monarchs, the MoW, Relius, Magus, Costis, Kamet, and assorted Eddisian cousins.
-The baby is okay? I don't know how, but I need there to have been some secret baby-hiding-shenanigans so everyone is alive and happy.
-Costis and Kamet come back during the Mede invasion and Kamet gets to tell Nahusaresh to stuff it. Costis cheers.
-Aris has a short cameo where he makes Costis smile.
-Dite sends a letter containing a catchy song about how great the King of Attolia is.
-Helen gets to hit something with a sword.

Like everyone else, I have no idea what’ll happen — my favorite thing about the series is how MWT never fails to surprise us at every turn — but I am absolutely CERTAIN that there will be some machination of Gen’s that directs the entire plot and that we’ll only see the full extent of at the end!

Well, as my user name so firmly proclaims, I am NOT in the States, but I'm hoping one or two fellow Sounisians who know who they are and have already entered might help out with that ;P
And so, I'm predicting/hoping:
1. Final showdown duel between Gen and Nahuseresh, possibly with Costis involved too. [fanfic for this in progress already ;P]
2. Laela being involved in Gen's slowly increasing spy network
3. Also Dite, who has been nicely positioned in Ferria
4. Ponies, somewhere, to give Gen fits
5. That elusive elephant...
6. GOATS. mwt /always/ puts goats in somewhere! [thank you, dear author - goats always need more love :)]
Beyond this, I hope for a happy ending, and second the reprobate who's already predicted that mwt will, of course, outwit us all and come up with something even more wonderful than any of us could dream :) :)

Really I have no idea what will happen, but I do think the ending will be bittersweet. Hoping for more Gen/Irene interaction and looking forward to all the different story threads coming together in an epic way. --- @aquaflounder on twitter

I think Kamet and Nahuseresh will meet again, and I think Gen will have a complex plan that no one else will know the full extent of. I think he might be able to maneuver them away from an out-and-out war against the Mede.

Godekker will play a crucial role as will remembering Immakuk.

There is no reason intrinsic to the plot of TaT that either of these actions should be important. Why should Costis have given anything more to Godekker than Kamet already had given him, especially since Godekker betrayed them? But the oracular priest of Ne Malia has advised Costis to “Remember Immakuk. Pay the fastener.” and whether by intent, because he recognized Godekker’s name as an obscure type of fastener, or by chance, because of his good natured generosity, Costis has paid a “fastener”. It would seem to follow, that the now paid off “fastener” and the memory of Immakuk, not utilized for the plot of TaT, have been set up for some role in a future book plot.
