Just got word that Amazon now shows the RotT release date as October 6....not August 25th anymore. Mac's Backs (MWTs local bookstore) also now says October 6th, though the audiobook version still have the original (2nd original) release date in August.

Can anyone else confirm what the ACTUAL release date is now?

I just checked both Fantastic Fiction and Amazon and both give 10/6/2020 as the release date. I want to whine and cry simultaneously! I know it’ll be worth it in the end but I’m not a happy camper just now.

I read that email the other day and was going to post about this, but you beat me to it!

I checked Harper Collin's and MWT's social feeds and didn't see any mention of it. However, I still think this update is accurate, since I believe Amazon gets that information directly from the publisher. Also, the Harper Collins website has the date listed as 10/06/20.

I was just thinking the other day we should start hearing about an arc and other promotional buzz in the next couple months or so. For the book to be coming out in August, she would need to be submitting it pretty soon. (The arcs for TaT, which came out in May, were released in January.) My guess is... Either MWT needed a little more time to make finishing touches before Harper Collins printed an arc, or it was delayed so the publisher has more time to promote the release or have the audiobook recorded. (Isn't that closer to the award season for books, too?)

Regardless, a two month delay isn't much. It will still be the shortest wait between books. :) Good luck writing in the home stretch, Megan!

PS: I do like that the final book is going to be released the same month The Thief was! It must be fate!

To mildly misquote Anne of Green Gables, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers (with new book releases)!"

I work in publishing, and an industry site lists October 6 as the pub date. The publisher is currently also planning (but might not actually accomplish—the best laid plans and all that) a book trailer and other videos, author tour, and promotion on Epic Reads, among other things.

[livejournal.com profile] ninedaysaqueen mentioned end-of-year promotion, and this does indeed mean that the book can be included in holiday round-ups. The audiobook production is likely unrelated, as it doesn't take a huge amount of time; however, it can take some time for the metadata to feed out to all retail sites, which is why you might see conflicting dates. ARCs need sufficient time to reach reviewers/media outlets and spur reviews, and some long-lead media plan many months ahead of time.

I'm really excited, though, and I'm glad I decided to randomly check Sounis today!
