I walked into a home goods store today (for the first time this year?!) and immediately spotted a mug for Attolia:

And then, a candle for Eddis:

;D

(Ignore the crazy bookworm cackling to herself in aisle 3.)

What things have you seen "out of context" that made you think of Queen's Thief?

That mug is truly perfect. I'm sure when I start my reread in September of the series, I'll have a much stronger sense of what reminds me of the books!

Uhm ... as a matter of fact, I have, and I had an entire post prepared about it ... but then I am hesistant to post it because what if it just sounds weird and unfunny in english?

(Also, that candle ... raises some questions. Namely, how in the world would one find out what lava smells like?)

Lava smells like a chunk of old rock. I know, I've got a chunk from Vesuvius somewhere. Like, really boring smell :D

What about HOT lava though? I imagine lava that spews forth might be accompanied by some sulfurous gasses...

What makes you think I was attacking the english language?
Its just a fact of life that humor often tends to get lost in translation.

My spontaneous thought was: probably, yes. Lots of people in real life describe having very vivid dreams where they, can even taste, smell, touch etc. things, and it seems fitting for dreams that are gods-send. And now that I think about it, Gen strikes me as the type of person who could have a very vivid imagionation anyways ...

According to the DW home website, "Lava" smells like "Island mango and tropical passionfruit infused with effervescent orange, sun-blushed papaya and sweet berry."

Somehow I don't think this is based on real lava field smells....

DISAPPOINTMENT. False Advertising. How very dare they. I should have seen it coming, that damn candle doesn't even look anything like a volcano!
