I know the last thing most of us want to see right now is another message telling us to vote, but here's something we can surely all get behind!

Goodreads is currently having their Best Books of 2020 awards, and we successfully got Return of the Thief added to the Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction nominees through the write-in option! đźŽ‰It's now in the semi-final round, so if you haven't voted for it yet, you can do so here!

And here is Megan's post about it on Tumblr!

Thank you for this reminder. It would be nice if these books got more recognition.

I feel like I will never find anything like them.

Last night, when I finished QofA for the thirtieth time in my life (QofA was my first book, having picked it up not knowing it was a sequel and being captivated ever since), I was just blown away at how amazing it is.

I've searched so many lists to find something to replicate it's complex beauty, and I've never found anything that comes close.

I understand. I tell everyone KoA is my favorite, but QoA is the best.

Amazing!! I too would love to see these books get the recognition they so richly deserve. They so ruined me for other books that in the two and a half years since I discovered the series I haven’t read another book that really grabbed me. Everything else just seems so shallow and simplistic.

Wholeheartedly agree. I was just thinking the same thing!

Yes! I wish there were a "like" button for your comment, Freenarnian.

I have to admit, the new Suzanne Collins is good, though unrelievedly grim and dark. And there are actually some excellent writers in YA now - Elizabeth Wein springs to mind. (I love her latest book!)

And Nigerian American writers like Jordan Ifueko and Nnedi Okorafor are knocking it out of the park with beautifully written fantasies right now. Naomi Novik is also pretty amazing.

But no-one compares to Megan....It would have been lovely to have "The Return of the Thief" win!

There is a like button! I think you have to view it in readability mode though.

Thanks for sharing that. Now, that’s an election I can really get behind!

I'm pretty certain "noncyr" means non-Cyrillic, which is the Russian alphabet. The Russian side of LJ has a top 15 blog, so this looks like a top 15 blog for languages other than Russian.

Not sure if it's a testament to Sounis or to LJ being abandoned by most English speakers, but Sounis is frequently in the top 50 ranking for LJ communities. It's #28 today. I don't know if that's just for non-Russian blogs, but that is the case nonetheless.

Huh, very interesting. I had noticed that LJ added a "repost" button awhile back and it looks like the LJ site reposts entries that get more comments or hits, maybe? I did see that we are #28 most popular Journal on LJ just now, so it may all be linked together somehow.

Can you imagine what our ranking would have been back in the day? Number 1, baby!

Alas, didn't make it to the final round. I feel irrationally disappointed by this.

Oh, my goodness! I'm so sorry I missed this! I'm kicking myself for not voting now....

The Return of the Thief is really such an excellent book!

Well.... I'll just try to keep promoting it in my library. I'm reading it for the third time now, and like all of this series, it just gets better with re-reading.
