Excited to speculate about Moira's Pen? Join us for a chat in the Conspiracy Room Sunday, March 6th at 6pm CT/7pm ET. We can wonder if the rest of the Kamet short-story got left on the cutting room floor, ponder if there will be illustrations, and agonize over what the Magus's name is!

If you weren't at the chat last weekend, some updates on coming events.

The next WSK Bookclub read will be the Roman Britian Trilogy A.K.A. The Lantern Bearers series by Rosemary Sutcliff. This series includes The Eagle of the Ninth (TaT was based on this), The Silver Branch, and The Lantern Bearers. Sutcliff is one of the major authors that influenced MWT's writing and the QT world. This series takes place during the Roman occupation of Great Britian and delves into fascinating themes on imperialism and culture. This is our summer pick, and chats will be held beginning in May or June. This spring I will post a full schedule.

Moira's Pen is set to be released November 1st! We decided to celebrate by rereading and discussing all of MWT's previously published short stories, including Instead of Three Wishes. The QT short-stories often get lost in the shuffle during rereads of the books, and we wanted to focus just on these gems for once. If you don't have the out-of-print editions the short-stories were published in, no worries! We have a member locked post with scans of all the short stories. These chats will be held this fall, probably starting in September.

Questions, comments, suggestions? Let me know in the comments.

Yay! Hopefully I'll be home in time to join the chat!

Excited too for Sutcliff's Roman Britain trilogy readalong! I re-read The Eagle of the Ninth last year, but it's been a few years since I revisited the others in the series. The Lantern Bearers broke me a little bit the first time I read it! (In that I couldn't start another book until I'd had a good long post-book grieving session!) (In other words, I loved it.)

Hmm yes, it should be:

The Eagle of the Ninth
The Silver Branch
The Lantern Bearers

and then

Sword at Sunset

...because it comes later in the chronological timeline, and has ties to the trilogy, but is otherwise a standalone (and if I remember correctly, is more Adult than YA in some of its content).

Wait, what? I read The Shield Ring a million years ago. Is it tied to the other books in Roman Britain?

Me too. I've had trouble getting my hands on a copy of The Shield Ring.
