Live chat

After much thought, it's been decided that anyone who want to participate in a live chat can come along from 9-10 pm London time (GMT) on Yahoo IM, this Friday. As far as I know, most of you guys live under Eastern US time, which means 4-5 pm (though you might want to check this). This webpage gives details of the current time in all cities, so you should be able to work out what time 9-10 pm in London will be where you live.

We'll be discussing MWT, or KoA, or any random thing that happens to catch someone's fancy. Yahoo has been chosen because I have it on good authority that group chats are allowed, and do work. If this turns out to be wrong, I will personally slaughter my source, and apologise profusely to you guys. :)

Most of you guys seem to already have each other screen-names, but just in case, could anyone who thinks that there may be even the slightest possibility of their showing up on Friday, please post their s.n. in a comment. This means that everyone (or just myself, and someone else, in case I am called off the computer by some terrible emergancy such as laundry or dinner) can add everyone and keep the chat going, and see when people come online. No one has to be there for the full hour, and giving your screen-name does not oblige you to show up if you find that you can't, though of course, the more the merrier. (Plus, the more of us there are, the easier it'll be to stop some of us getting drunk on cyber wine) ;D

I know it seems a lot to go through just to decide whether we should get a chatroom or not, but I want to make sure that if we were to get a chat room more than two or three of us would use it, and also that you guys would enjoy it. It'd be pointless if you didn't, after all.

Secondly, I wanted to point out the wonderful lyrics which [livejournal.com profile] ferris_girl has composed, for the anthem to Gen (a few posts back). They're fantastic, though it would be nice to have a few more entries and sets of lyrics. They can be as good or as bad as you like, and I think I'll leave the post open for a week or two before declaring [livejournal.com profile] ferris_girl the unchallanged winner.

And finally, simply because I want to rant, amazon still haven't dispatched my copy of KoA. They have about 2 hours before the dispatch estimate time finishes, and they get an angry email from me. *shakes fist at amazon*

I would, but I don't have yahoo messenger, and don't fancy downloading it. Oh well.

I will try my best to chat. I left a number off my screen name when I typed it in before. It's checkers65477.

Ro, will you send an invitation to us, or something? Not sure how it works.

Grrr. Amazon MUST get your copy to you. Want me to swim mine across the ocean to you? If you don't have it yet, do you want to wait on the chat?

We can't chat without you! What if we all agree to not do major spoilers or something? We can chat again, then, perhaps the following week. Or just do discussion of KOA on this livejournal site.

I'm thinking I won't be able to be there until 4:30 or so. Not sure; it depends on what the day brings. Hoping it will bring good things and I can get home early.

Yeah, Ro , we can always postpone the chat until you've read KOA. It'll be more fun to chat when everyone has read the whole book, so we don't accidently spoil you, lol. I can just see myself blurting out something important; I spoiled Harry Potter for someone, it was pretty ad, I felt so guilty :)

First, let me say I will bow to whatever the group wants to do.

I read the book three months ago and can easily wait two more weeks to chat/discuss via a thread. I don't want to spoil the book for Rowana or leave her out of the discussion, and gods knows she isn't able to not read the postings! (Haha-like I could!)

We could give the chat a dry run and talk about...something else?

Yeah, good idea Rowana. Although I personally don't mind waiting until next week to discuss it; it'll give me some more time to think. The thread is a good idea, if anyone is dying to start the koa discussion, lol.

I'll be on tomorrow too at the time, so whoever shows up, shows up I guess :)

Huzzah! I'm coricurbob on YIM, and AIM.

I really, really hope I can be there. I'm going to a play today, and afterward to look for art supplies with some friends, and so there is a possibility I will not make it on time. >_< I will try! I may only be there for a half an hour after 5 PM, but I will try! I hope everything goes well, guys, I'm really looking forward to it.
