Since I joined the community I have found out that lots of people didn't read the three Thief books in order. To satisfy my curiosity, which book did you read first?

Oh, this is a good idea; we're always bringing up who read what first. :)

Hmmmm. I clicked The Thief because it's the first book of hers that I read first, but the first time I met Gen was in the pages of Disney Adventures, back when the magazine was still good.

That just made me feel really old.

wow! So you actually started out with the coveted Disney Adventures story, which most of us didn't even know existed before we came here? That's cool!

why the heck would you read them out of order!?!? Eugenides just mopes around with a hook then all of a sudden he's a young, two-handed man.

This world is messed up.

Well, for me, it was the one that my local library had. :)

Ditto, for me. All copies (there was only one then, now there are 4 or 5) of Thief were checked out. QoA sounded good, so I got it instead.

BTW: I read The Thief first. A few months before QoA came out. Most anticipation filled months of my life.

Send me an email so that I can have your email address and I'll send the story to you. You can't find it online - only have it sent to you as an attachment. :) My email address is rowanatheblerg@yahoo.co.uk

I read Thief first.... Technicall, as I was a VERY late reader, I found it on tape at our library before I was really reading much and though, "Oh, this might be good..."

Hehehe... "might"....

ANd then I go along wanting more and then suddenly there's this lovely big book with a hand on the cover staring at me from the New Books shelf and I'm like "OMGSQUEEEEE!" only not, cause I was in the library.

I read QoA first...the coveted one-handed cover version. Then I read The Thief. Then my friend called and told me that KoA was coming out (about six months before it did come out) and I did a lot of excited shrieking.

I read The Thief, checked out from my school library, back in 2003; perhaps a year later (? can't remember how soon after) I returned to the library and, having reread all of the stomachable books in the first half of the fiction section, went to the T's and was scanning for The Thief (thinking it'd be fun to reread that) when - OMG! - there it is, the Queen of Attolia. Of course I checked it out and fell in love with it. I had no idea that there was a sequel when I read Thief because someone had checked it out (I presume?) and, after reading QoA, had no idea there would be a third until just last year, when I went scouting through Barnes & Noble and SAW IT. On a shelf. Squealed ... and died. I DIIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH CASH WITH ME TO BUY IT AT THE TIME!!! I had to come back the next week! It was the worst week of my life ... knowing what I was missing and not HAVING it!

But I've read them all dozens of times now (bought a copy of the first two books when I bought the third), so it's all good. :)
