...Just happened to be looking for an Italian name for a pizza store mascot (don't ask) when I came across this neat page - http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/ita.php - but what gave me that little Gen-jolt of the day was

"ATTILIO m Italian
Italian form of the Roman family name Atilius, which is of unknown Etruscan origin..."

Okay, okay, so I KNOW Attolia is more Greece based than Italy, but it's the same Mediterranean area, and I'll take Gen anywhere I see 'im! It's neat to see Megan get her names so flavorfully right.

Just figured it's good for a laugh mid-workday.

Hmmm, I always figured “Attolia” came somehow from the last three syllables of “Anatolia” which fits in with the eastern Mediterranean/Greek setting too.

Erm. I was inspired and decided I would tipe in a few names, I tried typing in several things and this was I thought was the closest for Eddis. I couldn't really find anything with any of the other names I have tried, I will continue searching. Anyway here are the closest results for eddis results for eddis. (I personally think the first one is more interesting) Gender: Masculine Usage: Turkish Means "high" in Turkish Second one EYDÍS Gender: Feminine Usage: Ancient Scandinavian, Icelandic derived from the Old Norse elements ey "island" and dís "goddess". That is it. I will see if I can find anything else Thanks:) Bye

Here, http://www.behindthename.com/namesakes/lists/greekmythpop.php, is a list of names from Greek mythology ... an extremely extensive list. I've searched for several characters' names without finding them and then just scanned the list, and the only name I found that seemed to mirror one of Megan's characters was Themis. There are many components of names that seem common to Greek names, however, that Megan uses in her characters' names. Previously I had thought that most of the names in the books were real Greek; then I started browsing through Greek names one day and couldn't find a single name other than Helen and Irene anywhere I looked. But today, at this site, http://www.babynames.org.uk/greek-baby-names.htm, I found several (such as Xenophon, Agape, Timon, and Eugen, the base for Eugenides ("ides" meaning, I believe, "son of")). And, of course, I had already known that Helen, Irene, and Eugenides were real names. Yay for being reminded of Gen everywhere we go!
