I thought you guys might like to know that I am going as the Queen of Attolia for Halloween. I'm pretty excited, even if only my mum will get it. :P

So, any suggestions? I thought I'd go for a red dress instead of green because, uh, I'm biased - red is my favourite colour. I've already got the appropriate jewellery (besides the headband, not sure where I'm going to pick one of those up...)

I'll definitely post pictures here after the event, and you can all tell me whether or not I did credit to the almighty Attolia. :D

I thinkthat the headband would be easy to make with glue, ribbons, and costume stones.

For the headband, I would suggest getting a gold ribbon (probably one of the sheer ones would look best), and plastic red gems to glue on.

How are you going to do your hair?

What a great idea! A strip of gold lame' would work for the headband as well. Craft stores have oodles of gold ribbons in all widths.

Red. Definitely red.

Looking at your icon, I just realized that in spite of the comments in the books about how she always wore red, and it is pretty much a given for any occasion she will be wearing red, yet the cover shows her in green (a beautiful green gown, but still, green), and she wore green to lop off his hand. I think there is an image of another green dress as well, but I don't remember the specifics.

If you look closely, it actually is the hand-lopping dress. *nods sagely* There are little leaves on the collar.

And yeah, the gold ribbon (with the wire in the edges) and some Shiny Blinkers (sorry, that's what my family calls them. The little false jewels) joined with Hot Glue....

... and maybe have a pocket in your dress full of little cards with megan's name, and the titles of the books - heck, maybe even the isbn code - so whenever some one asks you about your costume you can whip out the card to hand them and squee about the books ...

:D

(the japanese version of the book has her in green too. It's a conspiracy.)

EEEK. Now I have another option as to what to wear to the masked ball-- Gen! Too many choices!

I have no suggestions on the headband, sorry, but I thought it might be cool if two of us end up being characters from the books some hundreds of miles apart!
