...Or Attolians or Eddisons, and if any of those Mede bastards want in too then I suppose they could. XD**

So, firstly: I opened a bit of a request for scenes people would like to see illustrated on my intro post, and I re-ask it here. Characters, situations, events, gods/goddesses, amusing things you've thought up that you'd like to see, whatever. Post them all, and I shall do them if they tickle my fancy.

Secondly, I want to make some wallpapers. Should I do individual ones for each character? Gen, Eddis and Attolia, obviously, but who else'd you like to see? Magus? Relius? Costis? Teleus? Or should I do a group thing?

Thirdly, would it be some sort of ridiculous copyright infringement if I were to make a comic out of one of the books? I'd obviously only take credit for the portrayal, and I wouldn't be selling it or anything, so could I count this as, ah "fanart?" It would be King of Attolia, by the way, if I ever get off my arse  to do it. Just musing, even if it DOES get immediately shot down by those with a firmer grasp of copyright law than I.

Finally, I've been kinda busy lately, but I'll do an art post here in a week or so (hopefully), one that includes a couple requested scenes and maybe a wallpaper or two, should time allow. Oh, and the coloured version of the little doodle of Gen I posted a while ago... I kinda forgot about it. XD

Anywho, cheers in advance for your thoughts!

ETA: Okaaay, so, out of all these bajillions of comments I have gotten the following recommendations:

☼ Dancing Bear at Attolian Court
☼ Moira depiction
☼ Crenelation hopping, starring Gen
☼ When Gen's threatening that guy with a knife in the middle of the night
☼ Pirate Sophos
☼ KoA dance scene
☼ Gen in the Hammie's gift chamber with the gods
☼ Teeny Helen's gate-crashing of the gods' party
☼ Kamet (Nahblahblah's servant)
☼ Gen and Costis in dresses (I have no idea either XD)
☼ Stair-climbing scene from Queen of Attolia
☼ Gen's wooden-sword air acrobatics from King of Attolia
☼ Pol and family

The other comments are basically about the details of pirate Sophos, the king of Sounis' secret fanfiction that is being edited by his magus, or how everyone in the books are gay. Unless they're married. And even then, we're not sure. XD

So, basically, loads of room for more suggestions, despite the large comment count. :D

**Why is the club called Sounis? I've wondered that ever since I joined :D.

First of all, are you considering adapting one of the books as a comic...meaning using Turner's material? Or are you considering a comic based on one of the books...using it the way we do in fic with writing missing scenes etc?

If it is the first--putting one of the books in comic form--that would definitely be copyright infingement. It is plagarism unless you have the express permission of the author. Anything that is posted on the internet is technically considered "published." This is why there's that really thin line with fic--is it plagarism or is it derivative fiction.

I think it's safe to say that we've all seen something like this done before and labaled as fanart. Mostly, copyright holders refrain from taking legal action because the artists/authors are not making money off of the work.

If you do want to go straight from the text into a comic and not a comic based on the universe (Dōjin), I would be really wary of posting it. Dōjin would be a better way to go; it's a big thing in manga, and more culturaly accepted in Japan/other Asian countries because of its historical basis...but it would work better for you here because you could stick a disclaimer on it and shield yourself with the largeness of fandom in general. A novel turned into a comic by a fan definitely sticks out. I'm not sure how Turner would see it, but her publisher would always have the right to take legal action.

I'd say, if you want to do it that way, it should be something you keep to yourself (as much as that sucks) or circulate among close friends who will not post it.

Or...if you're accomplished enough, contact her and her publisher. They might be into the indea, especially since fandom is gettins o much attention lately (a well known fanvidder was just featured in some highly publicized media).

It was the fanvidder luminosity. And she was feature in New York Magazine.
