Who offered to organize the Sounis Members?  I read the post, and then couldn't find it again.  I would love that!  Username, general location, and Time Zone ... Add it to the User Guide to All Things Sounis.

And speaking of All Things Sounis ... I was in Barnes&Noble looking for Miles Errant and Howl yesterday, and got into a conversation with a young lady in the area.  We were bemoaning the organization of the store, where a given author may be found in several sections, and she was looking for a good book to spend her birthday money on.  I, of course, recommended Thief (I knew it was in stock, because I had just pulled it out for better display)  and it turns out she not only had read all three books, but she and her boyfriend were currently reading Theif together.  We skittered along on various topics and I didn't get to recommend this site to her but I hope she finds it.  More ammunition for Megan to come to Madison on the next book tour!

And I was glad to know there is another MTW reader who hadn't read either Howl or Miles.

The Business of Books

Talk of book tours raised a bunch of questions in my mind, and I was hoping the comm could help answer them.

1)  Book Tours.  Who has a say in where  authors go on a Tour?  Is there a way for fans to influence this?

2)  Book Purchases.  Of course buying books from a "brick and mortar" store supports the specific bookstore, but is there an advantage to the author in doing so?  Does purchasing from a specific store encourage the store to bring the author in?  Along the same lines, I buy a lot of books - my available time for reading is to sporadic, and books go out of print and off the shelves too quickly, to use libraries effectively - and for a favorite author, I would like to do what I can to maximize my purchasing powers.  Are there tips to enhance purchasing power?

3)  Helping Out.  What are ways the adoring fan base can help out a favorite author (aside from initiating and maintaining a fabulous live journal comm)?

A few months ago some of the members of Sounis acquired titles, depending on their strengths or quirks or for no good reason whatsoever. If dannybailey is going to create an organized list of us, I thought it only fair to list titles. But wait! Not everyone has one--yet.
