...but I wish they were.

Because I've been trying to draw these guys for a while, and I've been failing. Luckily, my friend G, who I just got to read TT, is fantabulous and drew me a picture after she finished it. Thought I'd post it for y'all. :-)

Isn't Sophos the cutest thing??!!

I know. Isn't Japanese history fascinating. I've even for some strange reason begun reading "The Tale of Genji".

I first got interested in the Meji and Tokagawa Eras when I watched the Ruroni Kenshin anime. I've since then done a bit of reading particularly on the Shinsengumi.

Is your favorite manga "Kaze Hikaru"? Mine is "Beauty Pop".

*Uses Kiri Koshiba icon to prove it*

Edward G. Seidensticker's translation from Tut books. It's a two volume set each 500 pages long. I wonder why I subject myself to these tomes. Hmm...

You have the kanji Sei in your icon. That means sincerity.

Cute.

Seidensticker's is the best translation. I didn't get thorugh Arthur Waley's.

can that character be read "Sei"? it's on the Shinsengumi flag, and I know it as "makoto".

Yes, that kanji can be pronounced both as "Sei" or "Makoto". My kanji dictionary says that "Sei" is the most common pronounciation.

I didn't know there was a Shinsengumi flag. The holes in my historical knowledge are made clear. Thank you for informing me.
