This is a thread for ideas about the next book. What's Gen going to do about Nahuseresh? What will happen to Costis? Is Sophos really dead?

And I think most of us feel the same way as you. At the same time though - I can't help doubting. He'd need to have matured a lot to have survived. What are the possible scenarios that would allow him to have survived anyway? If he's not dead, how could he have survived?

I don't actually have a theory for that, but I just don't *like* the idea of his dying offscreen. It doesn't gel right with me.

That makes sense. Sophos is definitely too major a character to just disappear like that.

Sophos is more valuable alive than dead. I suspect the Mede kidnapped Sophos and instigated the rebellion in Sounis. If Sounis had been killed, the Mede could step in and set up a puppet government with the "true heir." But even though Sounis is still alive, Sophos is a powerful bargaining chip.

Ooooh... I don't like to think of the Mede having Sophos, but that's a good idea!

That's a fantastic idea! It's actually possible, I really like that idea.

And if the Mede do have Sophos, that could have interesting implications concerning Gen's intentions towards Nahuseresh in the next book.

This is what I thought too, and why Sounis was working with them.

hmm maybe Costis is going on a rescue mission, that's why he has to learn Mede? I want Gen to go to though.

K so I posted the above before I read the rest of the posts....

At least it means we all seem to have seen the same forshadowing in the KoA so it must be there:)
