I was at a homeschooling convention today (yes, there really are conventions for that) looking for books. I walked past this kid with a t-shirt that read:

    Totally Gen
I have chosen you and have not cast you away:
      Fear not, for I am with you;
      Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
      I will strengthen you,
      I will help you,
      I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Needless to say my mind instantly thought of, you know, the Gen that sneaks around in my head day and night. I didn't get a chance to ask if the kid was a QT fan unfortunately.

It did make me wonder if Eugenides the god was really all that happy at their (the gods) treatment of Gen in QoA, Eugenides is Gen's patron god after all. In the version of the books that I keep in my head Eugenides is as fond of Gen as any god can be of a mortal. Though as we saw later in QoA the gods were there watching the whole time, they didn't really abandon him. Any thoughts?

Upon further research the quote is from the Bible, Isaiah 41:9-10.

Homeschooling conventions really freak me out, and I'm a homeschooler so that's crazy. :)

i like to think that Eugenides the god might have argued with the rest of the gods, but ultimately he would have just been like, "oh do whatever, he'll still be fine" because i imagine that he would have been confident in Gen's er... Gen-ness.

and maybe sneak in some help when the other gods are not looking. hur hur.
