[identity profile] lizzlo.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief

I don't know if anyone here saw what went on with the Suvudu cage matches a few months ago, but another group is doing something similar for the release of the next Hunger Games book. All of the characters are from YA books, and Eugenides made the list! Voting starts tomorrow, so head over and vote our favorite thief :)

I wish they would put which book each character comes from, because some of these books I haven't read.

Possibly Gen's equal in every way.

You've never seen The Princess Bride?

I feel bad for voting down Westly, but...well, all Gen really has to do is blink and everyone is blinded by his awesomeness.

Or read. The book's great, too.

Oh, no I haven't

Gen's equal?! Now I have to see this or read

Both! Maybe start with the movie? Even though I'm usually a fan of reading the book first. But the author of the book wrote the screenplay for the movie, which is why both are so awesome!

Movie, definitely. Yes, they are equally good and the book came first, but like [livejournal.com profile] bookaddict88 said, William Goldman wrote both the novel and the movie's screenplay. You just really don't want to go into the book picturing things differently from the movie, because everything in the movie is AWESOME.

At the end of "How We Think the Fight Might Go," they say what books the characters are from (in small print).

Hah, I love the descriptions.

Eugenides- advantages: He's Eugenides
Westley- advantages: He's Westley

^_^

Also I love that Edward Cullen and the Eragon guy are going down!

I hope everybody's over there voting! Westley is a little closer to Gen than I'd like to see (much as I like Westley...).

I just voted! Those battles are too fun to read. The deserts of Attolia?

Hmph, let's get some more voters over there for Gen, huh? Westley's a little too close for comfort.

I kinda think they're being unfair about Gemma... yeah, Enna would beat her every time, but Gemma handled Kartik's death pretty well. So don't judge her on that battle!

Kinda seems like that was the fandom view of Gemma, not the book.

Sadly, I haven't read that book so that is written by someone else in the team. I was hoping it was authentic to the book, but couldn't say for sure. And I'm really surprised how close Gen and Westley's battle is! Truth be told, that was probably the hardest one to write. It took days to even decide who would win between them (but it had to be them together. They are the most equally matched I've ever seen).

I guess it could be authentic to some views of the book, but I don't think Gemma would act like that. Her actions were questionable at times, and she was upset about Kartik, but the two didn't coincide. In fact, it seems to me that her reaction to Kartik dying was one of her stronger points as a character. She went on with her life instead of pining away without him. As some female characters have been known to do. Not that I disagree with the outcome of the battle--Enna is both the one more likely to win and my favorite of the two.

I can see how the Westley/Eugenides fight would have been hard! They're both wonderful characters, very well matched. Not only great fighters, but great strategists and tricksters. I think you did very well--I loved how it became more serious as they realized just how well-matched they were. Neither of them runs into that often.

The closeness between Gen and Westley is quite understandable, since they're both made of awesome. However, I'm sure Gen will win, as long as there's no iocane powder involved. lolz

The one that worried me is Hermione and Christopher Chant match (nice scene by the way, totally into the characters). For goodness sake, he's the nine-live enchanters who can travel through series of world and she's a highschool girl! How could people think Hermione would win, how, how, HOW?

Oh I know! How can they? I wrote that one, and clearly Chrisopher has to win...I am so anxious that I went and (finally) joined the DWJ list to let them know they needed to get out the vote.

Congratulate for the job well done on that scene. Please also pass my cheers to whoever written the Sabriel vs Eragon match. Mogget is the best!

I've done my own campaign for the Chrestomanci as well, so fingercrossed!

Yay! Just voted, so far Gen is winning. That fight was hillarious, this is so much fun! And I agree, Christopher Chant is the BEST, he can beat Hermione any day of the week, come on voters!

No, you can't. I've tried. You just get a notice saying that your vote has already been counted. :(

/tried voting for Christopher a second time

I've actually been able to vote three times. (One for each day) Maybe try again later?
