Fanfic Challenge Round 1

For the great response for my post about my Fanfic challenge idea I figured it would be alright to go ahead and try the challenge. Since a lot of people seemed to like the AU theme and the family theme, I thought we could have two challenges. We do the AU one first and the family theme will be sometime between November-December since it would be a good theme for the holidays. So, if you don't have time of the first challenge, don't worry you can have a chance for the second round.

Now then the challenge:

QUEEN"S THIEF AU FANFIC CHALLENGE

The Theme: AU/Alternative Universe- There are many ways to interpret this theme, but for those who aren't familiar with the term, were are the main two meaning. AU usually refers to writing a story in which one event was altered that changed the plot of the story. An example would be, what if Gen's hand wasn't cut off, or what if Sophos had died instead of Pol? The second interpretation is simply taking the characters and putting them in an alternative universe or setting. An example would be maybe writing the Queen Thief characters in a pirate or western setting, or maybe even in a modern one. There are a lot of ways to have fun with this.



1. Where to post?- To keep things organized and to ensure the sounis community isn't overrun by fanfics, please post your entries in the queensthief_fic community. When it's time to vote, I will post a list of links to each entry along with the voting poll, so everyone will be ensure not to have missed an entry.

2. Can I put in original characters?- You can, but please keep the main focus of the story on the canon characters, since they are the ones were are suppose to be writing about.

3. For voting, all contestants can vote, but don't vote for your own entry.

4. How long do the fics have to be?- Any legnth is fine, but try to keep it at least 100 words.

EDIT 5. Even if you're not writing an entry, yes you can still be able to just read the fics. That's part of the idea of the challenge. I would recommend just going to the queensthief_fic community to check to see if any new entries have been posted so you can read them.

Also, even you don't didn't write for the challenge, you can still take part in the voting. Everyone is allowed and encouraged to vote for the fanfic they think is the best.

EDIT 6. Can I submit more than one entry?- Everyone is allowed to submit up to two entries, however for voting each entry will be treated as a separate entry.



The Prize

The prizes will be banners for the first and second place and an icon for third which will all be made by openedlocket who deserves a big thank you for doing it.

DEADLINE

October 25th- Hopefully this will give everyone enough time. However, I will post a reminder post and I'm willing to give an extension if a lot of people are asking for it.

You don't need to sign up. As long as when you post your entry you say "This is my entry for the challenge" that will be fun. I'll be double checking the fanfic community for new posts.

Are there any restrictions on how many entries we can put in? Personally I have a fun idea for a quick, short piece, but I'd also like to submit something longer. Would that be alright?

I'll let everyone to be able to post two entries if they want. However, they will be treated as separated entries when voting comes.

Yah! I don't know if I'll have time to get to this round, but I'll certainly enter the second. It would be too bad too, because I have this fun image of Gen as a computer hacker.

I can't wait to read all the great AU entries.

I'll repeat my plea from the first post, since because I've been sick, I haven't been checking in and you may not have seen my comment on the first post because I commented just today, which is late. Do I get to read all the fics even if I don't write any? I hate writing. I love reading.

Yes, you can read the entries. All you have to do is go over the the queenthief_fic community and check to see if there are any new entries. Also, along with the voting poll there will be a list of all the fic entries. That way everyone can read the fics and everyone can vote on which they think is the best.
