Very (Very) Early Christmas Present
Oct. 6th, 2010 12:16 amThis is something I've been wanting to share with all you guys for a while, but I've only just now found a practical way to do it.
I've constructed, for your enjoyment, a GrooveShark music widget composed of my personal QT playlist, which I have lovingly gathered and edited over the course of three years. Some of these you may have seen before, others you haven't. Either way, there's 40 songs on this playlist, so there ought to be something you like.
And why the Superchick? Well, I have this image of Irene as a fourteen-year-old girl singing One Girl Revolution into her hairbrush. Hey, why not?
And just remember, this is all for fun. I mixed together a lot of different genres including light-hearted pop, because I think it's fun to think of the series in different lights - moody, silly, serious, etc.
Credit goes to this site.
Happy listening!

Date: 10/6/10 06:44 am (UTC)I know I added some light-hearted pop (I'm assuming that's what you don't like), more for fun than anything, and because I think it's refreshing to think of the series in a more light-hearted way, like when we're just joking around. Mostly, I wanted to mix together a lot of different genres to present a more complete list of music.
Don't tell me I did something like add an artist you really hate?
Either way, this is just for fun. If you find something you like, all the better. Sorry, if there's nothing you can associate with the series.
Also, certain songs are meant to be associated with particular scenes in the books. Right Here, Right Now with the assassin scene in KoA for example. Maybe, that's part of what you're tripping over.

Date: 10/6/10 08:06 pm (UTC)Yup, I threw in some classics like Viva la Vida and The Queen and the Soldier, along with some new ones that I highly recommend like We Are, I'm Here, and The End. Have fun!

Date: 10/6/10 10:19 pm (UTC)Were there any songs in particular you like the best? Besides the classics like The Queen and the Soldier and Viva la Vida, of course.
Your welcome!
BTW, have you gotten your copy of the new ST yet? I'm still waiting on mine. Stupid Fedex...

Date: 10/7/10 02:30 am (UTC)It was also lots of fun to hear songs like "Stand in the Rain" that I've heard in other contexts and hadn't consciously connected with QT before.
And "Solitude by the Window," a new song for me, pretty much blew me away.
Again, thanks!
Sadly, I do not yet have my new ST book, either. I had to wait for my next paycheck before I could order any more books (trying to be a good little girl), and...well. No book yet. Which is probably beneficial for my study time, even if I am going a little nuts wanting to read it!

Date: 10/7/10 08:04 am (UTC)Really? When I listen to Stand in the Rain all I can think of is Irene.
I actually wasn't sure if I should include that one since it's a piano score and not a lyrical song; but I still think it's the perfect backdrop for Gen's window side sulks, so I just had to stick it in there. The song is actually part of the soundtrack for an anime called Noir (see icon). Yuki Kajiura is the composer for the series as well as for the dot//Hack games and animes. Her work is... just... well...
Amazing! Outstanding! Epic! Made of win!
She has composed some of the most powerful scores I've ever heard, and I listen to Mozart and Chopin.
You can listen to more of her songs in the links below. These are my favorites.

That said, thanks for the time & effort you put in to share this with everyone!
The problem is, I'm wanting to start up an underwear discussion while listening to "The Tennessee Bird Walk."

Date: 10/8/10 12:51 am (UTC)Really? All these tracks scream QT to me. Which tracks do you not associate? Maybe, I can explain it a bit for you. Some of them are for particular books and scenes. I do apologize for the girl-power songs. I just had to give Irene some "fight-the-power" theme music. It's all her fault!
Yummy!

Date: 10/8/10 05:25 pm (UTC)It's not your fault. Sometimes I end up listening to music with certain books and they don't really suit but the mental association just happens and it's hard to break :-D

Date: 10/8/10 07:19 pm (UTC)Either way, I'm glad you like the songs. These are some of my favorite artists, although some of them became that because I associated their music with QT. Maybe, that's twisted logic...
