*Spoilers for Tangled*

I just went and saw Disney's Tangled with a friend and the thief character in the movie kept reminding me of someone else. Here are a few similarities I noticed:

1: His name is Eugene. Which means "well-born" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_%28given_name%29
2: He dislikes horses.
3. He's obsessed with his appearance.
4. He's cocky.
5. He gets a cut on his hand. Ok he doesn't lose his hand, but it still made me smile.

Anyone else see the movie and agree? See any more similarities?

*UPDATED*
6. Catlike climbing skills
7. The scene in the boat.
8. Two wounds in similar places (#5 is one of them)
9. Jumping rooftops
10. He fights left-handed!

YAY! 10 things!

By the way, here's a video about Flynn:

Oh, you mean they STOLE? (I can steal anything, including a character)

Oh, don't you know all the best artists in the world are actually plagiarists? Think Shakespeare.

True, but there's complementary borrowing and then there's outright stealing. I really hope this isn't outright stealing, but there' just so many coincidences.

Of course. I do not mean to imply that outright plagiarism is all fine and dandy, but I don't really see basing your character on another and giving them a similar name as outright stealing. From what I've see of the preview, this thief seems to have his own personality even if he is similar to Gen.

For instance, I honestly believe that Gen is based on Howl.

I haven't seen the movie, yet but I will be going to it next week. We'll see how my official opinion forms from there.

MWT did say Gen was loosely based on Howl at one point or another. There's also the fact that she includes direct quotes as homage to Howl's Moving Castle like a veiled in-text citation.
