So...I introduced myself over in the conspiracy room (which you could find, if you were willing to weed through a long conversation about hating Troy Denning), but I thought I should be polite and do a real post too.

So...they call me Jade, I delurked here pretty quickly (the MWT dangling was kinda hard to ignore), and The Queen of Attolia is my favorite book in the whole world.  I have lots of other books I love, sure (Gone With the Wind, Nightwatch, anything LOTR, The Once and Future King, etc.), but when people ask, I say QoA is my favorite.  (Then I have to describe it, which is really hard, because they've inevitably never heard of it...)

Um...I read QoA first, then Thief, just a random fact...

and even more randomly, I applied to the University of Chicago, and one of the things I had to write about was my favorite book.  So I said, "I surprise people by naming The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner, which is the sequel to a Newberry Honor book that I happened to pick up in the school library four years ago.  It is a jewel of a novel that very much resembles something I would want to write: a character study wrapped up in political intrigue involving kings and queen with just enough romance and magic to appeal to a wide variety of readers."

Now, guess who went to Chicago?  (Not me.  I went elsewhere, because elsewhere offered me more money.  ^_^)

So, yeah, I write fanfiction (but not for this series--it's too hard) and I have some original things that kinda got squashed underneath an epic my friends and I were writing...but maybe now that we're apart my poor muse will come back to me.  And...yeah, I think that's about it, for now.

Edit:  I bring news of the doomfic!

Update #1: We've got three scenes planned for the first "installment" as it were, one of which is written.  Other than that, we've introduced a completely new character, the magus has bought the bear, and Gen has not yet appeared.

...We're on a roll.

Megan went there! Wow - what did they say??? Did they think it was a coincidence?

Welcome to the...court? (sounds too formal)Circus? (too true) Ummm... madhouse? (too overly direct)...community of reprobates? (Megan's phrasing)

I feel a bit guilty for not introducing myself properly. I just turned up in the Conspiracy Room and talked with my many mouths.

:DDDDDDDDDDDDD emerald ;)

p.s DOES ANYONE HAVE IDEAS FOR JADE'S NICKNAME?TITLE? I'm thinking but nothing amazing comes to mind...

Welcome, officially. :)

My friends and I wrote an epic as well. Under our desks in English lessons. :D I'm sure yours had far more thought put into it.

Out of curiosity, which fandoms do you write fanfiction for?

I never introduced myself, I don't think. I just kind of showed up. And they were kind enough not to kick me out. ^_^

So, welcome! What's the epic about?

No. Actually that sounds really cool! Can I read it when you're done?

Willow is too wrathful and stealthily ubiquitous to kick out. And she would probably leave a bunch of zucchini on your doorstep if it did happen!

Welcome! What a great college essay!

I'm not wrathful! I think you have me confused with Checkers.

And you don't need a nifty accent to read it! lol... I'm sure my plain old Niagara Falls English will be plenty boring too when I get around to doing it. lol

Wavepad. Try this:

It's very easy to use. Now if my damn computer and stolen microphone would just cooperate!

I came up with some random snippets for various parts of the story. Shall I email them to you?

Also, how is the bear going to escape the lynch mob?

ah, yes, you should email those to me. I hope you did anyway, without waiting for me to say so.

Does the bear actually have to be in the same town as the lynch mob? I was thinking the lynch mob would just happen. Now, it could happen, and keep on happening, until it got all the way to the capital...at which point Gen would probably send Costis to deal with it. And then Costis would have to stop making out with Agape to deal with the problem, and then discover it was a mob, and then be really unhappy.

*sighs* Costis torture is just too easy.

Hello, I've typed up all the ideas in the backlog and put them in some kind of order - and posted it in conspiracy room. I love the ideas, especially with kakos/Irene and the whole Gen and chaos thing! "We're on a roll..." I'm impressed! There's hope for crackfic junkies everywhere!!!
