I would never attempt a plot summary but the title is KRISTIN'S NEWEST FAVORITE BOOK!!!!!

Slipping the shackles of his subjugators with the lion's share of their gold, a dirty slave seizes a ship and seeks to sail to safety, only to see himself shipwrecked on Sounis's (safe?) shores.

Oh, right, a title: Sounis.

(Ha ha ha.)

Really, though, if the next book was called Annux, that would be a perfectly acceptable title.

Well ... except everybody would think it was a home improvement title. Annex, you know.

From: [identity profile] agentmaly.livejournal.com
But then they'd still be right, because how do you build empires except by annexing territories? Right?

Do you think the marketing department would like it any better? :)

lol, each book has those five words! Phrased in different situations. Nearly.
Oh boy, whose turn is it this time to serve the prized role known as some sort of prisoner/slavery?? Who then gets whisk away on a ship, with lions on board (may even become friends with lions!), then enslaved to gold digging and gets all dirty
..speculating...
but then every time I see lions, I think of Sounis.

Working Title(s):

Oh dear gods - what does the King do when he's bored in meetings? Writes fanfic about his soldiers and courtiers, of course! And then gives dramatic readings to his attendants before bed.

I need the T-shirt that says, "But enough about me, let's talk about Star Trek."

I saw STID once in theater and am dying to see it again. It was not enough. I need to have seen it at least 5 or 6 times before my brain can work out a reaction.

I need more ST icons but this Sherlock one will have to do.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Ion lifted the sash over the King's head and set to unbuttoning his vest. The King, never one to cooperate, was being even more difficult than usual. He refused to let go of the paper on which he had been scribbling through the whole of the appeals session, and refusing to relax from his oratory stance as he read from it.

"The sound of swordplay drifted in through the open windows, but within the dark room, there was a heavy, suspenseful silence. The weight of Costis's words hung between them like a sacrificial lamb hangs from an altar, in that moment before the priest calls for the Gods blessing. The lady Heiro pressed her delicate, dainty, manicured, white hand to her full, red lips, and stared at him, memorizing the planes of his face, longing for that moment when those lips would banish all distance between them. Costis's rugged, tanned face, normally so bland, was alight with the kind of passion he normally saved only for occasions on which he ended up committing treason by punching his king in the face. Ouch, Hilarion! My arm is not supposed to bend that way."

"If your majesty would cooperate," Ion mumbled, "we might more speedily and comfortable remove his clothes from his royal person."

"Careful, Ion," the King squinted at him, "or next I might read what I've written about you and your lovely Zenia. I've had the most delicious idea for a plot twist - her eyes really were just made for lingering glances, you know. I think they might be lingering on our visiting cousin Sounis."

Philologos stifled a snort in his elbow, and at Ion's glare scurried forward with the King's nightshirt.

"Now," Attolis continued, "where was I. Ah, yes. Costis's penetrating gaze. Perhaps I ought to skip the next portion, none of you is interested, I am sure, in Heiro's exquisite, creamy, perfectly-shaped--"

"Your Majesty!" Hilarion cried in horror.

The King lifted his eyebrows. "Hilarion, I didn't think you would object to descriptions of the delicacies her father's barony is known for. It is perhaps a little unconventional, but in this story the plot hinges on the fact that Heiro, against the precedent of her high birth, is a master cheesemaker. Costis thinks with his stomach, as you know, and it is that which first attracts his notice."

Ion, dropping the nightshirt over his king's head, wondered if there'd be any way to smother him with it and make it look like an accident. The King's head appeared from within its folds, looking right at him and grinning. "It wouldn't do any good," Eugenides told him. "I'm fairly certain I'd keep talking even in death."

Berrone decides that circus lions are treated like slaves, and decides to ship them home to Africa across the sea. She accepts Mede gold to pay for the voyage. Luckily, her mother digs up some dirt on Nahuseresh, and she doesn't have to pay him back.

The Mede
The Lions of Sounis
The Mothers of Sounis
A Fleet of Lions

I find your titles very intriguing. I'd pull them from the shelf if I were browsing at the bookstore.

Now that he is a king, Sophos thinks he's left slavery behind him. But he's wrong. Taken captive by the Medes, the young man must slave in the emperor's gold mines, sifting through tons of dirt to discover a few precious nuggets of gold. But, with the help of a tame lion, he escapes, and takes to the sea to right wrongs and defeat the Medes. He will never be a slave again!

Title: The Pirate King.

(I am sure that Megan will have come up with something lightyears better than this compilation of cliches. I can't wait!)

Taken captive by the Medes?! NOO, SOPHOS! A tame lion is admittedly a perk, though. I applaud your legit book cover summary skillz!

Date: 10/1/13 01:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] agentmaly.livejournal.com
No no, see, Sophos as a pirate king, I think this is very probable.

Date: 10/4/13 03:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mary-j-59.livejournal.com
But - it's implied! What's a pirate king without a ship? LOTS of ships!

Okay, you're right. I flunk. But don't you like the title?

See, the WHOLE COMMUNITY will be devastated if she cuts out the elephants.

Which will probably not sway our author at all.

Well, OK. I'm sure that Megan doesn't want to drag any Northern European legends/ sagas into Attolia. But I can't resist ... it just seems too perfect .... so...

dirt. gold. slave. lion. ship.

His friend, the Attolian King, always a slave to fashion, rolled his eyes in exasperation. But Sophos would not be swayed. "I am resolved," he said. "I will not wash or comb my hair until I have vanquished my enemy." So saying, he cast his golden comb into the dirt and walked resolutely towards the ship.

As the difficult weeks and months of his quest passed, his hair became dirtier and more unkempt, until he began to resemble a dust bunny, rather than the lion he was named for. But thankfully, this sorry state of affairs did not last. His friends soon saw his ship returning, with Sophos standing proudly on the deck, his bright hair shining in the sun and his enemy in chains at his feet.

The only thing you have to do is to utilize this laser leveler tool which will project a visible laser-cross on the walls by simultaneously, displaying accurate
horizontal and vertical lines within seconds.
So if still don't know what to do yet, consider
a carpentry career. It's utilized for everything from sheds, residences and
decks to more modest occupations, for example cutting the structure wood for a
solid walk or the parts for parking space racks.
