Yes, that's me. As you all know, I don't tweet and I don't blog, but I've been thinking that maybe I could handle a tumblr account. It seems to be pictures, mostly. I thought it would be nice to have one place to stick stuff so that I can go back and look at it later, and I see so many things that I'd like to capture by re-blogging. For example, I just found out that one can google "megan whalen turner" and "tumblr." Wow. That was amazing.
I understand there is something called "pinterest" but for the love of little green apples, don't tell me how that works.
It's much better that I stick to the shallow end of the internet.
I'm impressed--for the life of me, I cannot figure Tumblr out. In fact, I *know* I created a login when they had the DWJ tribute, but I can't even get logged in. But Pinterest is super-easy! (and a huge time-sucker)
As the kids say, "This! So much this!" tumblr is to me so confusing and strange that it makes me get a little angry when I try to use it. That and the fact that all I ever seem to see is pictures of Benedict Cumberbatch...
Tumblr is a labyrinth, but as someone who's been using it for a few years now, I tried and failed to make the switch to Pinterest. Tumblr is my home. (I think of it as the nerdy, wordy, shadow-dwelling cousin of bright and shiny domesticity of Pinterest.)
I'm intrigued to know your url. In the interest of fair trade, here's mine: quothshe.tumblr.com (it's mostly just pictures of random pretty things which in some way inspire me or remind me of something that inspires me.)
I felt the same way when I first started on Tumblr!! Coming from LJ, it's quite disorienting. When I started out, my BIGGEST frustration was the lack of commenting system. Like if you want to comment on somebody's incredibly insightful post, you can't do it, unless you reblog the post and write your comments there; and I think that's kind of weird, because nobody really gets to see your comment unless they go to your blog. So yeah, trying to have discussions on Tumblr is quite painful.
I find Tumblr quite impersonal for that very reason.
But I have succumbed to the dark side, because half the Legend of Eli Monpress fandom is on Tumblr and I have failed to get them over this side of the fence.
