Well, hello to everyone and our Beloved Author! It's been forever since I posted anything here -- but I have a few minutes, and hopefully I haven't missed the deadline yet. So, I understand I can get four entries to the most exciting contest of the year by completing four fun and easy tasks. Here goes! The rest of this entry is under the cut (I hope! I'm the one who always had trouble with cuts.)

2. Why should I have an ARC? Oh, eek, I don't know! Here's a quote from an English translation of Buddenbrooks:
I am a reprobate
A warped and hardened sinner;
I gobble evil down
Just like the joint for dinner...
3. Fan art? OK, here's something really embarrassing. I have made a filk, and it's based on a song I don't really know, but have heard somewhere or other. I believe the name of the original song must be "I'm So Lonely Without You," but mine could be called "These Books Are So Lonely Without You." Look how willing I am to embarrass myself!
https://youtu.be/wEdJ95xUQKU Please click to see it (I mean hear it). Oh, BTW, I understand that Vince Natale would also get to share the ARC if I win, since I'm using his book covers. That's absolutely fine with me, as long as Megan doesn't cut it in half!
4. More fan art - a landscape. OK, here we go! I wish I could have spent more time on this one, because it actually captures a little bit how I think the scene would look. It's looking down from the escarpment across the Sea of Olives. The medium is dry pastel on bristol board, done quickly with no preliminary sketching. Because I had to get this entry in! So here it is - enjoy!
That's it for me -- enjoy!

- Dear Megan, do you remember me? Maybe not, since it's been a while, but I met you in a bookstore in Boston, after the very awesome Horn Book Colloquim, in which facial hair was discussed, among other things. Here's a picture. I am sitting at your feet, wearing a blue tunic, with my hair in a stubby braid.

(It's a hymn! Imagine that!)
Well actually, I'm not sure I'm much of a reprobate (am I?!) and ...if I were fortunate enough to get an ARC, I would share! I know SEVERAL people -- one right near me, right now -- who are also dying to read it. And I would give them the ARC. And then we would all go out and buy the book as soon as it's published. And the ARC would continue its journey, as every good ARC should. So that's the best I can do for this one.
