Welcome to the early morning hours of Thick as Thieves Day. All this time, we’ve been trying to cure a seven-year ache.

First off SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! Depending on how sensitive you are to spoilers, I would not enter the realm of the comment section till you have finished the whole book. Presumably, spoilers for further on in the book will not appear in the threads for earlier chapters, but I cannot guarantee this. Remember who our authoress is?

Vent your initial reactions and squeeing here for the book in general or by chapter.

You may want to post reviews to the community itself. You can also start your own specific

discussions or post questions. All spoilers must be hidden under an LJ-Cut with a clear spoiler warning till at least a month after the official release date.

Those with arcs began discussing a few weeks ago. The Jamey Dodger Society is now unlocked and everyone can jump in on that, but remember it's full of spoilers!

Welcome to the other side, reprobates!

It was so good to be back in the world of Attolia - but this story, much as it felt a bit like Eagle of the Ninth as others have mentioned (and I'm planning on rereading Eagle today), also felt a lot like The Horse and His Boy - both in civilization (Calormen vs Medean) and the runaway slave narrative. Anyone else feel that?

Kamet's voice and cultural evolution is fascinating. And somewhat endearing.

Both Gen and Kamet defensively commenting how Costis isn't stupid might be one of my favourite parts of the book.

Does anyone think that the new heir to Erondites is Philologos? I was looking through the list of characters in the new editions this morning, and it says that Philologos is the youngest of the king's attendants, and the hints about Kamet writing to the heir to Erondites with the second map in TaT are addressed to "P"?

Is it just me or was there something...romantic between Costis and Kemet? The book kind of left me with the image of them living together by the sea and it just all seemed so...domestic?

Yes, I was very much reminded of The Horse and His Boy too, with Kamet so often sounding like Shasta with no idea how non-slave, non-Caloremen/Medean society operates

I thought Philo was Relius's new student? If Philo is the new Erondites heir, that is?
