In which book 6 is all about #winning
Aug. 17th, 2020 09:50 pm(I jest. It's always been about winning for Gen. Winning hearts. D'aww.)
So, so, so... the discovery of this page (brief but awesome spoiler potential alert!) on MWT's website caused a minor sensation in the fandom, and seems to fit with a certain theory we've discussed here before. (Clue in the comments for those interested.) Again, spoilers for Return of the Thief! Read at your own risk of being hoodwinked once again by the unreliable narrator gods!
Edit: There are now SPOILERS in the comments, too.

Re: #spoilers

I was wondering whose son Pigeon was (Dite? Sejanus??) when someone reminded me that Erondites had a daughter, disinherited when she married against his wishes.
WHICH MEANS...
Gen wasn't kidding when he said, "I'm going to raze your PATRIMONY and salt its earth."
Did he make Erondites's daughter's son the heir?!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh
RE: Re: #spoilers
Date: 8/18/20 11:57 pm (UTC)But isn't this worrying? It says "history is written by the winners" and this last book is apparently written by an Erondite, so... does that imply they won in some way?

Date: 8/19/20 03:28 am (UTC)It's possible that Gen and Irene won't produce a biological heir, in which case Pigeon, taken under Gen's wing and tutored by the best scholars in Attolia, could be adopted as such. Careful what you wish for, eh, Baron Eron?

Re: #spoilers
Date: 8/20/20 03:29 am (UTC)I mean... he can't read and that seems a little odd to me, him being male and an Attolian noble. (I'm basing that on Sophos's mom not being able to read.)
Also, Gen said Eurondite disinherited the daughter's children as well...? Can the king overrule that?
Re: #spoilers
Date: 8/20/20 06:14 pm (UTC)Pigeon may not have had the best education up to this point, if his mother married a commoner and was disinherited. Or, he may simply have difficulty reading, due to factors yet unknown.

Date: 8/23/20 12:10 am (UTC)I, too, had forgotten about the sister. Who did she marry then, hmmm... a commoner, a rival, an Eddisian? I vote for Stenides but that is totally out of nowhere.
