How's your summer going, Sounis? Hope you're having fun and not just counting the days till Moira's Pen releases, which is only a few months away! Here's what's coming up as the summer draws to a close, and we approach November 1st.

To kick things off, as previously discussed, those who participated in the Roman Britain Trilogy WSK Book Club chats were open to following up with a bonus Sutcliff read, Sword at Sunset. This is (I'm not sure if it's official) a sequel to the trilogy and is Sutcliff's take on a more classical King Arthur story and the war with the Saxons.

Start reading August 14th, if you want a whole two weeks to finish the book or start sooner if you want more time. The chat to discuss the book will take place in the Conspiracy Room Sunday, August 28th at 6pm CT/7pm ET. If you haven't participated in a WSK Book Club read or even a chat before, no worries! All members are welcome! Just go HERE for the Conspiracy Room password.

We have been planning to celebrate the release of Moira's Pen by re-reading and discussing all MWT's previously published short stories, including the ones that do not take place in the QT universe.

My plan is to give you all two weeks to read the non-QT stories, take a break, and then cover two QT short stories each week from there. These short stories are… well… short, so they should only take about twenty minutes are so to read.

If you do not own all or even any of those elusive out-of-print editions that had the older short stories published in them, scans of the short stories are available HERE for Sounis members. Instead of Three Wishes should be readily available at libraries. If you don’t have access to the Best Short Stories anthology book that The Baby in the Night Deposit Box was published in, looks like you can read most of it on Google Books.

Have a schedule. Short stories are in chronological order, BTW...

Read Instead of Three Wishes and The Baby in the Night Deposit Box September 4th-17th. Chat will take place September 18th.

Read Thief! and Eddis September 26th-October 1st. Chat will take place October 2nd.

Read Destruction and Wineshop October 3rd-8th. Chat will take place October 9th.

Read Knife Dance and Alyta's Missing Earring October 10th-15th. Chat will take place October 16th.

That should give us plenty of time to cover everything and still have a short break before the book comes out, so we can do a Halloween chat and a midnight release party for Moira's Pen. Megan really likes to release books around Halloween time. Have you noticed?

That’s all for now!

Oh my goodness, you are SO well organized, LJ. Are you sure you weren’t a librarian in a previous life? 😁

Ok, I put all these dates into my calendar. I will post the chat reminders a day or two before each chat. It’s been a nice little reading break, but I’m really looking forward to chatting with all you lovelies again soon.

Excited for Moira's Pen, even though I'm still not sure exactly what it is! xD

I put in an ILL request for Sword at Sunset and have the date on the calendar!

Also, I want to share that I impulse bought a like-new copy of The Mark of the Horse Lord at Half-Price Books when I took him to buy books for a trip he was taking.

And that despite the fact that my nightstand runneth over:
Fatal Enquiry by Will Thomas
Very Good, Jeeves! by P.G. Wodehouse
Dying in the Wool by Frances Brody
A College of Magics by Caroline Stevermer
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T Kingfisher
Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village by Maureen Johnson & Jay Cooper
All Systems Red by Marth Wells
The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny
Murder Magic, and What We Wore by Kelly Jones

Looking forward to chatting with all of you again!

That was a GREAT Half Price Books find! I haven't actually read that one, but finding any Rosemary Sutcliff secondhand is a guaranteed impulse buy for me!
