It's been just over a month since Moira's Pen came out, and you know what that means! Time to freak out in the Conspiracy Room! Join your fellow reprobates for a chat next weekend, Sunday, December 11th at 6pm CT/7pm ET to discuss the new book and all the new lore.

This chat will have spoilers, so if you haven't read the book yet, what are you waiting for?

See you there!

Have fun!

I have an event at church that night (plus I'm working next weekend because my library move is *finally* happening starting on the 12th), so I won't be able to make it.

Also, I'm waiting for Christmas Eve. I decided to give myself "my 1st reading of Moira's Pen" as a Christmas Eve gift to myself.

Reading this new interview with Megan is certainly making it hard to wait, though: https://www.jeanbooknerd.com/2022/10/megan-whalen-turner-interview-moiras.html

Bonus: it lists a few spots we should definitely plan on visiting during our Sounis group trip to Greece!

I've noticed my pattern for new Thief books is to get really really excited, babble about theories, obsess over details...then I get the book, read it, and then drop from the fandom radar. It's like I have nothing to say until I've read the book several times. I'm only just now able to kind of talk about The Return of the Thief after reading it twice.

I've been reading (and occassionally commenting) on this forum since 2008, but still haven't figured out how to actually use live journal, or I'd make this it's own post instead of commenting on an old one.

My daughter has been reading the Queen's Thief books over the past year - she just has one chapter of Return and the last few Moira's Pen stories left. (We were weaving Moira's Pen in more-or-less where they fall in the timeline, while trying to avoid spoilers for the main books.) Anyway, yesterday was her 10th birthday and she asked me to make "Attolian Nutcakes" for her birthday cake.

I would add a photo of the finished product, but I don't know how to do that.

The recipe is the kind of fun world-building thing that no one would have "expected" to be there, but it was so much fun to actually have. And I feel like that encapsulates so much about this whole book - I didn't realize how much I wanted it until I heard that it existed, and even then it was even better than I hoped.
.
But now we REALLY "need" to know what happened to Hector, and more of Gitta's story, too.
