So for all those who claim too busy to attend...we got a very special guest disguise as  'Oracle'  who according to The Magus "Oracles are considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic opinion; an infallible authority, usually spiritual in nature."   Redirects everyone to read Chatzy backlog...!

From what I read and if anyone catches more just say - some hints were given randomly!

1) Galen and Petrus do not get along due to professional jealousy
Oracle: points out that the two physicians do NOT get along

humm this brings up when do they meet up?

2) Poor Gen gets sick a lot
Oracle: Poor Gen.
Oracle: So sad that he keeps getting sick all the time
Oracle: You all should be nice to him
i think we are!

3) Gen father:
Oracle: points out that Attolis's father is built like a brick shithouse
 ohhh

It was kinda hard to pick out details at times, but here are some that maybe be relevant or not:

-The Magus fate of drowning in the bath is left hanging....bath bombs still? .

-something is going to happen to Aulus!

Oracle: I think "making tea" is code Ornon

Oracle: oh, yes THE FARMERS a brilliant post modern investigation of the interplay of the ethereal with teh transparency of the other ---I don't quite get this one if someone could explain.

Oracle: you know, I think Attolia and Attolis are snogging in the hallway
later she adds
Oracle: snogging! I told you!

And did anyone had a suspicious feeling that  this 'oracle' will appear in the book?

Discuss! Thoughts?
And overall it was a very successful chat and thanks TLE for organizing!

But what if is this case, the illness is a front so that he can go and do other things (i.e. rescue Sophos) without people bothering him or really missing him?

*groans* We HAVE to keep bringing the Farmers incident back up, don't we!

By the way, there is a LOT of new backlog. The actual role-playing chat part starts on page 40, I think.

I hope this means Aulus is definitely in the next book then. :D

My theory: Gen gets injured (again) and Galen and Petrus blame each other.

Oracle: points out that Attolis's father is built like a brick shithouse

(from The Straight Dope - http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2458/how-did-the-phrase-built-like-a-brick-shithouse-get-to-be-a-compliment)

From the Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang we learn that: (a) the phrase and its euphemistic variants date back at least to 1903; (b) said variants replace "shithouse" with switch shanty, schoolhouse, slaughterhouse, or backhouse, among others; and (c) all were originally--and more sensibly--applied to men of solid or powerful build. When said of women, one 1938 source notes, the phrase usually meant a "heavy, cloddish, sexually unappetizing female." But even in the 1930s a few wiseguys were applying it to attractive women, and in the U.S. that usage has now supplanted all others.

But not everywhere. In Australia and the UK, at least, "built like a brick shithouse" still most commonly refers to well-built men. Therefore be advised to use caution in tossing this phrase about whilst abroad; you may be taking your life in your hands.

Wow. This is the first time I've come across this phrase, and it wouldn't even occur to me to consider it a compliment!

Thanks Checkers :)
I've only ever heard of it as it applies to well-built men. (If anyone complimented a girl over here like that, he *would* be taking his life in his hands)

Spurred out of apathy by checkers' librarian skills, I also went and found these on OED online.

a. orig. U.S. Chiefly of a man: having an extremely solid physique; with a very robust and powerful build. In Brit. use, derogatory when used of a woman.
Occas. (in senses 4a and 4b) abbreviated to brick shithouse, etc., denoting a person of this build.
In earlier use a number of different buildings are used in analogy. Later, once the form brick shithouse became standard, variants are usually euphemistic.

b. U.S. Also freq. in form built like a brick house. Of a woman: having a curvaceous figure, esp. slim with large, prominent breasts. Also of a woman's figure.
