In non-ACofK news, School Library Journal's second annual Battle of the Kids' Books has reached round 3. And today's notable judge? One Megan Whalen Turner.

The contenders awaiting her decision: The Lost Conspiracy by Frances Hardinge versus Charles and Emma: The Darwins' Leap of Faith by Deborah Heiligman (also apparently known as the battle of Team LoCo vs Team CharMa).

Her verdict is here.

Hey, fellow Sounisians --

I've just had the honor of interviewing Megan for [livejournal.com profile] enchantedinkpot. We talk about research, writing craft, inspirations for the series... and elephants. Oh, and I mentioned this comm a couple of times, too. Check it out!

But I couldn't resist!

Because the Merriam-Webster word of the day is ...!!!

It must be a conspiracy...

I decided to re-read (again) and just write down comments as they came up. So this is terribly disjointed, but pretty much in order.

And very spoilery, too. So don't click if you haven't read the book!

Hi, all you wonderful, wonderful people.
I have been quietly enjoying the Queen’s Thief books all alone for so many years and trying extremely unsuccessfully to convince everyone I know to read them just so that I could have people to squee with.
With CoK coming out, I just couldn’t stand being *finished* with it and having to begin another long, lonely wait for the next one.
I have no idea why I’ve never searched for this community before.
I tend to be quieter/shy online, so I was planning to just lurk around, but seriously, you guys have way too much fun for me to not try to join in.

So… I just thought I’d introduce myself and say that I’m steadfastly devouring all of your archives.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a long standing lover of the books but a newcomer to the fandom? Favorite links (fic/discussion/reviews/whatever)? Discussions you’re loving right now? I need a fangirl outlet.
