Use this thread with handy sub-threads to discuss the new short stories and poems. Simply reply to the comment with the name of the story or poem you want to talk about. There is a thread at the bottom for the extra content, such as the almond cake recipe and the art references, if you wish to discuss those. I've not included threads for the previously published and renamed?? short -stories, as we recently discussed those. Also, I don't consider discussing already published content to be spoiler-y, but feel free to start threads on those if you'd like to revisit them.

Missed opportunity that Irene wasn't air guitaring Burn It All Down while the villa erupted into flames in the background. Yeah, I've been far too obsessed with Jinx from Arcane lately...

A sobering story, but I'm very happy for Irene that she got to destroy the place where she had been the shadow princess. But she left the poisonous plant!

More thoughts to come when I'm less tired... 😴

This story was a little chilling. Irene was such an unhappy, angry person, still so afraid and lashing out at everyone to keep from being hurt herself. I wonder how she felt about this revenge, years later.

This was interesting, when it comes to the relationship between Relius and Teleus. Relius is married, Teleus has women (plural) in the town. And a delightful boy is mentioned. Those alley cats! I wonder when their friendship changed to something more???

This story is definitely my favorite so far. It fills in blanks from the books, we can tell exactly where in the timeline it falls, and it feels like a missing chapter from Thick As Thieves. Love this one.

Do we know what happened to Melheret after this story? I can’t recall from RotT if he is mentioned. He was so very unlikeable in ACoK but this story was sweet, it reminded me of the Magus, trying to appease The Real Sounis.

So, so, so... The three women who are all referred to as Mistress and auntie are Costis's sister and the mothers of his two sons or...?

So, I know it's possible Costis had a wife who died, he remarried, and the other woman is Kamet's wife? But why include that half-sibling detail when it's completely unnecessary to the other story?

And, I mean, Aris and his family aren't moving in. So why would Kamet decide to live with Costis if he had is own marriage and children?

Why is polygamy the most logical explanation here?

I think we're all Lela sitting on that bench right now...

So, so, so... You're telling me I've known the Magus's name since 2017 and didn't even know it!? I slammed the book closed and had to leave the room. I am so mad right now! The holy grail of QT lore was just sitting there the whole time.

Plus, once again, telling us a title only character's name by telling the name of a descendent who was named after them. I am so done... XD

I thought it was interesting that the version of the "thief!" short story included in this book had Lader's name, instead of what was originally a different cousin that stenides warned gen about. I didn't notice any other differences in stories that were originally in the backs of other books, but it's been a long time since I'd read them so I'm not sure!
