Yes, it's that time again!

We have a brand new update to our readaloud: Chapter 21 of The Queen of Attolia, brought to you by

checkers65477 has finished Chapters 3 and 4 of Queen of Attolia, so I would invite members to take a trip over there and listen to them. Her recording is perfectly lovely!

In just over a week, Sounis will celebrate its official first birthday. To mark the Community lasting a whole year, and growing into a great meeting and discussion point for Megan's fans, some of us feel something should be done. However, the ideas we came up with somehow managed to get lost in the backlog.

So we're looking for suggestions - any thoughts for a way of celebrating a whole year of wonderfully growing fandom.

Chat Notice

A reminder about the Chat this Saturday (without needing to be poked by Emerald!). It's great to see regulars appearing, but new faces are particularly welcome, if anyone wants to introduce themselves, or contribute to the discussion, or even just listen in and lurk.

The Chat will be held in The Conspiracy Room (password 'Sophos') on Saturday, at:

9-10pm UK Daylight time
4-5pm Eastern Daylight Time (US)
3-4pm Central Daylight Time (US)

If you're having trouble figuring out what time this is according to your timezone, drop a comment and I'll do my best to figure it out. The transcript of the chat will be recorded and posted afterwards. Old chat transcripts can be viewed here.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to give a gentle nudge to everyone who's signed up for the Readaloud. I'm not asking anyone to hurry up and post your chapter - I'm just asking that nobody forgets if they have signed up. :)

Since

rowana has helpfully reminded everyone about our ongoing readaloud I thought I should do something to stir up a bit more interest. With that in mind...

I've decided to add the King of Attolia chapters to the readaloud list. Yes that is correct, you can now sign up to read your favorite parts of The King of Attolia, if you so desire.

Members of the community: go here and sign up for your preferred chapter. (You can still sign up for the other books as well!) (Yes, I already tooks chapters 6 and 14. But hey, 7 is still available, and I know you're all going to want that one!)

Non-Members: Since you won't be able to see our readalound post, go here and click that link at the top to sign up for the community. Next, follow instructions for members. Then you get to join in the fun. :)

So, no matter who you are there's no excuse. Go sign up! Read! Share!

By the way, will someone who doesn't have an advance reader copy please check my chapter numbering of KofA and make sure that it matches up with the published version? Thanks!

For everyone who's been following along with the Readaloud, I have some rather exciting news. (Hey, I was excited.) The absolutely lovely

mycenaeth has very graciously agreed to host our mp3 files. So no more Yousendit, no more Megaupload, all you have to do is click the updated link, and the files (apparently) play right from your browser window.

Let's all worship

The first chapter of Queen of Attolia is now up on the Readaloud thread. (Read by your's truly!) It's being hosted on YouSentIt, so it's only going to be up for 7 days. Get it while it's hot and all that.

I'm (clearly) going to have a hugh pain in my ass if I have to keep uploading this stuff onto a temp. site whenever anyone wants it, so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for solutions to our hosting problem. We need to host quite a few large-ish (approx. 15 mb) files, so if anyone knows of a good way to do that please speak up.

Go listen to my pretty voice!

Another note, if anyone's feeling like a particularly pro-active fan, the Readaloud is now running. The basic premise is that members of this community can sign up to record themselves reading a chapter of the books. Then the chapters are all uploaded onto Sounis, and we get end up with an audiobook. To claim a chapter, or when some are (hopefully) eventually posted, listen to them, check out Dannybailey's post below. (The post is locked and is only accessible for members of Sounis).

Have any of you guys ever heard of readalouds?

There's a Harry Potter one here:

hpreadaloud. The basic premise is that members of the community sign up to record themselves reading a chapter of the Harry Potter books. Then the chapters are all uploaded onto the lj community and -voila!- we've got a fan-created audiobook.

Does anyone feel up to doing something similar for the QT series? I could get a signup started either here (Rowana? Your call?) or over at the Megaron.

I've already recorded the first two chapters of QoA (I've got way too much time on my hands) so even if you guys don't feel like/aren't able to record your own chapters, would you be interested in hearing other people (like me? lol) read the books.

Is this a good idea? Should I post my chapters so you can hear them? Let me know!
