As we prepare for Hurricane Sandy's impact, we hope that allowing her to blow out her frustrations on the Eastern seaboard will allow her to calm down, and perhaps begin to see Eugenides in a new, better light. (Or at least give him a few sand free days as she is busy elsewhere!!:)
Hurricanes Sandy and Irene got us thinking about Hurricane names, so we came up with a game: naming hurricanes after QT characters! Books and I started 2 lists, so that there could be one boy and one girl's name for each list. However, we quickly got stumped, so we're asking you guys for help!! I'll start with some of the ones we came up, and then let's try to fill in the blanks!! :)
Ladies first: Gentlemen:
Agape Aris
Boagus Berrone
Chloe Costis
Dite D(girl)
Eurydice Eugenides
F(boy) F(girl)
G (girl) Galen
Hilarion Helen
Irene Ion
J(boy) J(girl)
K(girl) Kamet
Legarus L(girl)
Moira MoW
Nahuserish N(girl)
O(girl) Ornon
Philologos Phresine
R(girl) Relius
Sophos S(girl)
Themis Teleus
V(boy) V(girl)
W(girl) W(boy)
All right, Sounisians, the rest is up to you! We're missing a total of 16 names - 12 girl's names and four boy's names. Any other names you can think of for letters that are already taken are great, too. List away!

Date: 10/28/12 12:23 am (UTC)For L (girl), The King of Attolia mentions that one of the queen's attendants happens to be named "Luria;" the "Thief!" short story also names one of Gen's aunts "Livia."
(Too bad for the exclusion of names for "X" - there's Xenophon and Xanthe.)

Date: 10/28/12 09:24 pm (UTC)I'm afraid you're not going to find anything for "F" and "W." I believe we get those from our German friends (but don't quote me on that, I'm not a linguist!), and they are not found in the Greek alphabet. Since Mrs. Turner uses Greek names in her series... You see where I'm going with this?
You could try doing a list according to the Greek alphabet, but that might get too confusing. I'd recommend removing the letters that have no Greek equivalent. From what I can tell that's just "F" and "W." I know there are some Sounisians who speak Greek, so hopefully they can help you out some more. :)
